Waterview Golf Club
About
Rowlett’s first course has been laid out over a flat range of pasture, supplemented by 15 acres of lakes and over 1,000 new trees. Designed to be hacker friendly, the lack of mature trees provide an especially generous look and feel, tempting the mid-level handicapper to tee it up from the 7,191 yard tips and go long off the tee. Bent greens are the highlight of the round here–they roll true and provide solid opportunities to snake in a few long putts.
Getting there : Off of I-30 exit Dalrock Rd. and drive north through Hwy. 66. A half-mile past 66 veer left on Princeton, which dead-ends at Liberty Grove. Turn right into the Waterview division and take Waterview Pkwy. to the clubhouse

Fantastic Greens
Never have I seen a course be under $50 with greens as excellent as these. I was in awe the entire time on every hole. I’d give more stars, but the fairways and tee boxes have been in bad shape both times I’ve played. We showed up early to get some food before playing and the staff was phenomenal inside the clubhouse. Mid way through Hole 10 (first hole they had us play), we were stopped to prove we were supposed to be out there. First time I’ve ever been asked to prove I was supposed to be playing. Then, that same staff member said we had to have carts in by 5:30pm. We had just teed off and it was a 4:13pm start. Sunset was to be about 7pm. We continued on until about 6:45 because we were not stopped again and we saw multiple groups still playing. Not sure who the staff member was, but he was an older man and certainly wasn’t as friendly as the rest we encountered. Hope to have a better experience if I play again.
We always enjoy this course
Despite some huge rains just a few days earlier, the course was beautiful, a few minor puddles but was playing 90 degrees. Greens are in great shape. Will play again!
6 hours Pace of Play
Made it through 3 holes in 1 hour 5 minutes, asked for a refund and the manager refused and advised that I jump in front of a group on the back 9 (which would further slow down the pace )
Greens were nice, everything else was very poor
Chilly Morning
February golf and fast greens. Played the front 9 and liked what I saw. The greens were in good shape considering the rain and colder January.
Great greens
The greens here are usually terrible. They are now some of the best around right now. Fast and true. The fairways have always needed some love but play it up and enjoy the greens.
Rough Day for Golf
Standing water all over the course, slanted tee boxes, and awful pace of play. There was a 30 minute delay to tee off and they ran out of carts. Booked a 1:20 tee time to only get through 13 holes…
All the rain
Despite it being winter in Texas and all the rain that poured down the day before, the course was still very playable. Most of the teeboxes need a better rotation and TLC as they are getting pretty torn up. The fairways were in good shape and all bunkers were really good. The greens were firm and fast, rolled true and were definitely more of a test due to speed and amount of break.
Sunday Funday
Looked around for a last-minute tee time and saw Waterview had plenty. We tee'd off @ 1:00 pm and we're told we were the last group scheduled. It was just two of us, and we were in no hurry, so the foursome in front of us were not an issue on this day.
We had played this course recently, so knew what to expect. Tee boxes are in pretty rough shape. Mostly sand with some grass in areas. Fairways are okay. Not much sand underneath the turf. Mainly black dirt. Rough is what it says, 'rough'. You can still see the remanence of the large cracks from this past summer, both in the rough and in parts of the fairways. Pretty rough ride in the cart. Not a lot that they can do about it really. It has to do with the type of land the course is built on. Greens are the treat at Waterview. Roll really well and quick like I like 'em!
Price point isn't bad for being in town. Pace of play is usually a pain, but lately we've been pretty lucky. Will play it again for sure.
