Always a pleasure, and better than ever.
In the middle of a hot, dry summer (by Florida standards), you wouldn't expect a muni course to be in perfect condition but NSB Golf Club was every bit of that.
The greens were fast and true, and the grounds were well taken care of. It's not the "not a blade of grass out of place" type of condition that you might get at a high end resort, but the fairways were consistent with a decent amount of grass and no bare spots that I saw, the rough was a fair height, and the traps and areas around the green were excellent.
New S course
Great greens. Best in town
Great course greens, fairways, and greens
Great employees
More Donald Ross
Another fantastic DR layout. The greens were green and slick and undualting. The rest of course was at a lesser level. Beautiful links style track. Great place to enjoy a round. Fair but challenging too!
Good value and great greens!
Course was in good shape and the greens were perfect.
Quick Morning Round While on Vacation
Greens were in fantastic shape and it’s clear that’s where the money is spent on maintenance. Played in 3:15 as a threesome teeing off at 9:15. For the money it’s hard to beat, but it gets the 4 star rating since the fairways were basically the rough. Would be easy to walk if it wasn’t the middle of July.
Legit Muni fun
Totally reasonable course, challenges of every sort, though not on every hole. Accessible and reasonable golf for a solid price. For the money, it’s probably my choice for a utility-round of golf for fun. Price beats DBGC and it’s quite a bit easier than Cypress Head w/o being a pushover. I always play New Smyrna a time or two at least when I’m down in DB area. Cypress Head is still “favorite”, but honestly, it’s exhausting. I would much rather have league-type or a casual round with mid- to high-handicappers at New Smyrna. It’s a challenge, but doesn’t punish you as hard with lost balls, etc. You can keep playing and they only accumulate strokes…
BRING YOUR BEST PUTTING GAME
I played with a friend who was familiar with this course. All the greens slope from back to front and are loaded with undulation. There doesn't appear to be a level spot on any green. Fun layout with no over booking. .BEST municipal course I have ever played.
Wet day on links
Nice layout, fairways need help and practice area less than ideal.
Wish they had told us
They had plugged the greens very recently so putts were not true either with the distance, direction or speed. I think we should’ve been notified for this or compensated for Price. Putts, after all, are half of the game.
My review
5 pars, shot ab 89 playing from the white, I'm only b87 years old. The greens were sandy , recently aerated.
