Fun, Challenging Donald Ross Course

Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape; the greens were in excellent shape. Firm, fast, and true. Pace of play was pretty good; we finished 18 holes in just under four hours. Course was crowded.

NSGC has a full-service bar and restaurant for drinks at the turn or for the 19th hole.

New Smyrna is a hidden gem

NSB embodies everything right about public municipal golf. The course is an absolute gem and possesses a character, layout and architectural uniqueness that is very special. I’ve experienced a lot of great public and private courses over the years and this is one of my all time favorites.

Don’t be upset if the conditioning of the turf isn’t 100 percent perfect. Conditioning is all about having unlimited funds, which almost all municipal/public courses don’t have. It still plays firm and fast with exquisite green complexes.

Nearly there!

Grass is all green and fairways and greens are full. The grass could be cut lower to make for faster fairways and greens, but considering the drought and recent aearation and verticut, they may be waiting for it to be fully healed before everything is cut low again.

Great course in great shape though!
