Great Valut
Staff greeted us as in parking lot and at pro shop door! New cart and empty golf course. For the first round since October it was just right. Greens were firm but the ball rolled nice. Worth a visit.
Loved it!
We used to play Lake Diamond because it was so cheap. Now there is new management, it shows, the fairways were bad. Now you can see how improved they are with new grass growing all over and they are being tended to. The greens were average but now are nice and manicured although they still have too much off a crown. It is a challenging course and a lot of fun
Like the doglegs rather than side by side holes
Very enjoyable course. Course is much improved from last year
Looking better
Fairways are a lil rough and hard but the greens are nice. I was impressed. Maybe when the new homes get built, the course will get better. I recommend this course, especially for practice. I couldnt pass the price. Im definitly going again.
A challenge even for the low handicappers.
I have been playing this course off and on for 23 years since retiring in Philadelphia back in 1993. For three years a ranger. This course is very challenging even for the low handicappers. The best I have done on this course is break 80 a few times with a 79, and I have been playing golf for 60 years..am now 88 years old. I have also noticed that when playing with a partner there is a tendency to play better! LOL Hopefully, after recovering from an operation I'll be back out there again soon.
Decent for the price
I've played this course years ago and thought I'd give it another try. As reviewed by others, yes, the front nine is not much to brag about. Lots of areas being cleared for new housing, and poorer overall conditions. All of the lateral ponds and water hazards that I remembered were dried up into flat catch basins. Not impressive! But the back nine is an established area and a real treat. Conditions are much better, and the holes are challenging and visually interesting. For the price, it is a nice venue, especially in the Winter when things get expensive. So, plan to warm-up and tolerate the front nine and enjoy the back nine. Someday, this will be 18 holes that you will certainly enjoy.
Interesting Experience!
Talk about a turn around! Now I recognize this is an inexpensive course so I did not have great expectations. But after playing the front nine, I almost left. Acres of cleared land hardly picturesque, poor cart trails, dust everywhere, and many depressions obviously designed to hold water but empty.
Plus no liquor license so not even beer to soothe the soul! When I went in the clubhouse at the turn to get a hot dog, there were 4 people there. I stood at the counter, no attention. Finally, I had to ask "do any of you work here?" All four did.
The back nine changed my mind entirely. It was beautiful! Lots of water, great conditions, interesting holes. My recommendation is just to play the back nine.
Good Greens...
Staff were very friendly...The layout was fine... The fairways left a lot to be desired though...Patchy, to say the least...I'm not a good golfer by no means, but I appreciate a well maintained course...The greens, I loved them...Challenging placements of the pins and pretty fast AND true !!! Not sure if I'd return too play there though...
very nice
I played there for the second time and enjoyed it very much both times. I would play it more often but I live almost an hour away and it is difficult to find with out a GPS. We will still try to make it there once a month because it is a very nice course.
This course is open.
Nice day to play golf and enjoy
Loud Machines
They are doing clearing for future homes and the loud machines were anoying.
needs a lot of work
fairways bad shape--don't do lot of mowing but for the money you get what you pay for
Great Course
Scenic course, challenging with water, tress and sand traps. The course is well maintained.
Don't miss the chance
I love the layout of this course. Yes, the fairways are somewhat rough, but the greens on the 2nd nine were mostly excellent. Course has a very secluded feel so enjoy the ride.
Snobs look elsewhere !
Lake Diamond is not a pristine golf course. In fact the fairways are only in fair condition at best. But then I am not a low handicap golfer out to prove something. My handicap is about 20 right now after a long layoff. The greens are excellent (better than most) and if you are willing to move your ball a couple of inches from a bare spot to grass in the fairway you will have an excellent time on a challenging course with lots of right to left fairways. By the way the pricing is almost half of what you will pay on many other courses.
Don't play this course.
This was one of the worst courses I've ever played. It was inexpensive and still not worth what we paid. I would not recommend this course and would never go back to play.
Course conditions are improving
We play here fairly often. We like the setting and layout for this course. They have struggled with lower golfer numbers but we found the course conditions are improving. The last 10 greens were in very good condition. Fairways are rough on the front 9 but very nice on the back. We always see wildlife here. We will keep it on our playlist.
value
tight lies everywhere not keeping it up good... but other wise good for the money, you will b happy for the price after all thats what its all about having fun and getting to hit the ball you can put ok cause the greens are getting better alot of different holes... good layout really not bad but hardly any grass in the fairways though....very bad.... but for the price... play it!!
An Interesting Day
I arrived at the course 1/2 hour before my 1 pm tee time and to my surprise I was sent out right away. The course was in just fair condition, dry winter burnt grass, and hard pan. The front 9 greens were in bad shape, while the back 9 greens were very good although hard as a rock. Holding a green was not an easy task. That being said I had a good day and made some new friends, I'll play this course again from time to time.
Joe's round at Lake Diamond
I was very disappointed with the conditions of this course. With all of the beautiful that are in this community you would think that the course would be in much better shape.
