Ocala Golf Club

Ocala Golf Club always fun to play, scorecard would indicate fairly short but plays longer, yet not punishing. Conditions were mostly good, greens excellent. Other people might think,"well,, it is a city course, short overall, don't bother," but I think they would be pleasantly surprised.

This was our first time playing this course. We read the reviews and took a chance that there would not be slow play.

When we got there we had to wait for the starter to round up the 3 some off the driving range. Once we got going we had to wait on every hole, they could not keep up with the 4 some in front of them. They were slow off the greens, slow to advance on the next shots, , made no attempt at ready golf and log jammed a backup, this sort of thing ruins a game of golf, you have no consistency in your game. Instead of a starter, invest in a Ranger , but who will actually move the golfers along and have the person taking the money check the golfers in!

We would not consider going back, not worth the money, miserable day, would have just throw the towel in but who has $76 to just thro away now a days!

We like this course, staff is always friendly and course is very well kept. Greens are good also.

Upon arriving we were pleasently informed of their lunch specials. After checking in my wife and I were paired with two gentlemen, one playing the course for the first time also and a club member. Course condition was very good along with the pace of play, we played in exactly four hours. After the round we enjoyed a refreshment in the lounge, the staff and other members we met were friendly. We will be back soon!

The course is in great shape. I was paired up with a couple of good guys and we got to know each well when there were often three or four foursomes on each hole on the front nine. Painfully slow. Greens ran true and the fairways good. The starter prompted us to speed up when we were on the tee box of a par three with the group ahead of us were just making it to the green.

Played here on a Wednesday at 1:07. Course was busy for a week day but pace of play was tolerable. Course is a typical 'Old Florida Course' meaning it is compact and relatively short. No trick shots needed but you need to hit the ball straight off the tees. Course was in good condition and the greens rolled medium and true. At $25 per round it was a good day playing.

5500 yards from whites.of course I could play further back, but I was playing with 3 others. Really nice muni, good greens.nice layout.

A classic old Donald Ross course, its not long, and has a good amount of space to drive to ball on most holes, although there is a couple tight spots out there. The challenge is the steep sides of the closely mowed areas around the greens. Be prepared to be accurate with your irons shots or your ball will quickly run off far away from the green.

This place was in great shape, friendly starter, his name is Charley and a great guy. Couse is a bit tight on some holes, but rather generous on others. The day we played there was an artist using a chainsaw to carve an old tree on the front nine, he was not finished at the time but there was an eagle on top and another bird he had finished, cant wait to go back and play there and see the finished sculptor. I just moved here a month ago and I will probably make this my regular course as soon as i have played them all.

Course is in excellent shape - tees, fairways, sand traps and greens all perfect. Greens running true and pins can be in some tough positions. Highly recommend this course.

The cups were cut for the Marion Masters. The cups need to be on the greens in positions that are 6 easy, 6 medium, and 6 challenging. Hopefully this will be addressed. Otherwise what a fun place to play. I'll be back soon.

As an Ocala native I have played here many times. After a 4 year hiatus (kids) I am able to enjoy golfing again. This course is great to get back into it. Not super easy but not extremely difficult. Carts Greens Fairways rough all kept very well. Their practice putting area is large and great and their chipping area is amazing to practice. This will be my home course.

All the staff was friendly and helpful being our first time playing there. Course was in good shape. We look forward to playing it again soon.

Early tee time, off the first tee, first hole facing into the sun. Worst part of the entire round. Staff was very friendly, course in really good shape and the burger after golf was great. We were greeted by the started on the practice green and advised that we were the next group to play. He had some humorous stories to share plus some tips on the course. One of the grounds workers recommended we eat at the course restaurant and we were glad he did. Fun day, very enjoyable. Short holes presented challenges, water and sand traps.

This course is a great value. It is also very woman friendly, from the staff to the layout of the course.

It was great to be able to reach the par fives in or near regulation. All my work on my game played off and left me feeling good.

I have played this course on and off for the last 30 years and find it in great shape. It is probably one of the easiest tracts to score on for a high handicapper like myself. Pace is sometimes slower than most. Staff is friendly though they could use extra help.

Although we ran into stormy weather after 9 holes it was a great 1st time experience. The starter (Jim Davis) was extremely professional and helpful to us from an information standpoint and is one of the reasons we would return again. The course was in excellent shape and we played 9 holes in about 2 hours. Great food and drinks in the 19th hole and staff was very friendly to our needs. Looking forward to going back in the near future.

Although the course is kept in very good shape, almost all of the greens are on top of the next tee box which creates two problems; whether you are on the green or on the tee there is distraction and when you are on the tee there are frequently incoming shanks.

Overall Course is "Great" to play. Also the Club Pro is very friendly at all times. Staff are all wonderful.
