Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

The course layout is great and it’s a great challenge.

Unfortunately this time of year, Bermuda grass becomes dormant. The rye grass seed hasn’t germinated in many areas on tees and greens. Because the fairways were not over seeded, there’s not much grass growth in the fairways. The tees are okay and the greens are coming along nicely. Out of 18 greens, 4 of them have “mine fields” that you will putt through. On a very positive note, this course has really improved the last 30 days. Once the weather stays above 70 degrees and with lots of watering, the course conditions will improve even more. Overall, I had a great time and took advantage of a GolfNow Hit deal. This course is worth checking out and playing as long as the rate is below $35.

OK for a low fee.

Not much grass in the fairways, I'm guessing it's not being watered much. Tee boxes are ok. Greens are playable..but slow...and small. Bunkers need sand, lots of weeds around greens...

Price was reasonable but this course needs some TLC.

I would play it again for no more than $35.

Reasonable price? 50 bucks at 1pm on weekend is insanity. Fairways are dirt and weeds. Greens are Velcro. Respectfully disagree.

Tarpon Woods

Better than people say, especially for the price. Don’t listen to the reviews, this is a normal Florida course with normal wear and tear that a Florida course without a huge budget endures.

Burnt out and staffless

Could be a great course, layout is good, conditions are terrible. 1 person in the whole club house, no food available at the turn, the only thing green on the course were the overgrown tees and the wet greens. They were watering g the tees and greens at 1 in the afternoon. I pulled up to a few tees and had to wait for them to turn off the sprinklers. Like I said could be a great coarse

Stay away

Worst course condition I have ever played. From tee box to green it was atrociously bad, They obviously do the bare minimum and Jan Stephenson should be ashamed to have her name associated with this garbage course.

Palm Harbour Tarpon WOODS GOLF

Playing off season is challenging, cooler temp and live oak leaves. The corse provided us with enough challenges for beginners .

Fairways, long without too many obstacles.

The greens could use a bit of nurturing. We loved that were never rushed or back up of play. You get what you pay for,

Yikes

Alright, I'm trying not to be mean but I am very confused. Also, I just saw Jan Stephenson, who I assume is the owner since her name is on it, has breast cancer. So maybe the place is bad because she has bigger things going on.. who knows.

The staff was very nice and I saw on their site that they had "reopened with renovated greens". This honestly was the worst conditions of a golf course I have ever seen. I usually play The Landings in Clearwater which isn't the best course, but this made The Landings look like Augusta.

The areas all around the greens are full of tall grass and weeds everywhere. The "renovated greens" were dead with dirt patches and other types of grass (I think St. Augustine in some cases) growing in. I couldn't tell if my putting was good or not because it felt like I was putting on a fairway.

Sad because the pro shop and grill were pretty nice but completely dead. Maybe the only good thing was that it was only $13 for 9 holes but you can play 18 at the Landings for $28 after noon.

I'll go back if they fix up the course but a lot of better spots for the same price in the area.

Very disappointed - was hoping the new greens would generate more interest to play here. Such a shame because the layout is wonderful.
