Tarpon Woods Golf Club

About
Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

Shape of course
Very friendly and accommodating staff. The course was very scenic with lovely homes through out. The course itself was in terrible shape. The fairways in particular were in horrible shape and it was hard to find any grass to hit off of. It looks like they have new greens and are letting them grow in which is fine. Over all I would not recommend this course at this time.
can you say moooh!
The layout is fun from the back tees, no goofy holes, a good course to relax and practice bad or tight sandy lies from middle of the fairway. The option for dining is here but no bev-cart so stock up before the turn. The overall health of the course is a bummer, keep your expectation low and look a for discount rate. The fairways are patchy and weed like, tee boxes rutty/uneven, greens furry and overseeded maybe with a ?rye?, bunkers are ok (filled with a river like sand).
Wildlife was awesome on this course
This was my first time playing this course and I will definitely go back. The overall condition of this course was good. A little work is needed on a few tee boxes but nothing glaring.
Go out and have fun. When you make the turn enjoy some wings at Beef O Brady's.
Nice course and amenities
The course was nice, but the fairways were a little rough. That said, I know they are working on them diligently and look forward to the improvements they're making. Overall it was very good and the fact that they have a beef Obrady's on premise is really nice if you're incorporating lunch into your play or planning to have dinner after.
all around nice place
So for my first time playing here I was very pleased..with everythineverything from the staff to the course..the greens were very nice..the pace was fast..played 18 holes in no more than 3 hours..theres a lot of par 4's which was nice for my new hybrid...and got to work on the driver...and the rates were great $22@ 9am is amazing..I will be going back and recomend anyone who wants a good day of golf to try it out
Well worth the money
The course has improved tremendously over the past couple of years. Greens were in very good shape and the fairways held up pretty well from the recent weeks of constant rain. The staff is second to none and you can't beat the 19th hole being Beef O Bradys. I will definitely be out there again soon.
Great course forvthe money spent.
Did not get to finish. Only pkayed 9 holes due yo ran and the course was wet. It is an Ok course forvthe money we spent. Coukd use a few improvements.
Great Shape
Easy course if you stay in the center, if not....You will have to muster up all the clever you have.
Check it out and have fun
Tarpon Woods, Labor Day Weekend
We had never played there, but absolutely enjoyed. The last 4 holes were slow as a foursome up front was slow... BUT, otherwise, EXCELLENT. We will definitely play there again, SOON.
Great wildlife spotting!
Great course with great views! Highly enjoyable. August is very hot though....come back in Fall...
Not bas for 20 bucks
The greens were in much better shape than last time. The rough was overly long and hadn't been trimmed in a while.
It was a hot day with a "feel like" temp of 101 degrees and there is only ONE, I repeat ONE drinking fountain on the entire course, and it's a warm water fountain. Shameful.
getting better
course is in better condition than in the past, but tee boxes need improvement, there should be water avail. on the course, with no ranger the pace of play can be slow when busier, good value for the price
Too wet.
I had a ten dollar round coming, on the course I live on. Unfortunately there were thunderstorms and rain all day, so the course was unplayable. My loss;-(
tarpon woods
greens are in great condition. Course is looking really good compared to last year.
A lot of improvements....
Really nice course in Tarpon Springs. Great value for your money. The course is in good shape and the greens roll true. I would definately play there again soon.
Good Value
Good layout. Short, but lots of turns and dog legs to make you play. Staff did not seem pleased that we had a GolfNow rate. Overall I would still play this coarse again
Fun Layout, but not in the best shape.
The course/ hole layout is actually a really fun set-up. Just don't go in with high expectations. Piles of cut grass all along the fairway. Really no second cut, if your off the fairway even by a couple feet you are playing off solid dirt half the time. I play here when the price comes down to practice, instead of the range. Its nice and quiet first thing in the morning. The mowers were pretty annoying this time, it was like they were following me for my entire round. Tee boxes need a lot of attention. Lots of wildlife!!! Turkeys, Deer, Birds.
Thought it was great especially for the money.
First time playing Tarpon Woods. For the price it was well worth it. You can eat eat Beef O'Brady's also and get 10% Off your meal which is nice. Course was in good shape.
Same as it ever was
3 strikes and you're out....
I've played this course 3 times over the last 7 years or so. First it was Tarpon Woods, then Brooker Creek, now back to Tarpon Woods....Same ugly results I'm afraid. Great course design but always lacking in conditioning
Tee boxes were uncut and very patchy. Even using a nearly 3 inch long tee, there is still grass around your tee shot. Tough to find a flat spot to stand. Bunkers were inconsistent, some raked some not. Fairways inconsistent, most with dirt patches and thin lies. Thick rough all around the course, not by design, just a lack of mowing... Approach areas were very wet and soggy(not the courses fault due to the daily summer rains) but a couple greens were over watered and the cups had standing water in them.
Greens were very very slow and some had a few dirt spots but overall they looked ok just didn't roll true. The score card lists only 3 sets of tees, Back, Middle, and Forward, yet there are actually 4 sets on the course, found that to be odd...
They added a Beef O Bradys to the course which I guess is supposed to be an asset, but when I go golfing I want to golf, there are tons of places to go after a round. The entrance to the proshop/Beef O Bradys was locked at 8am so we had to walk all the way around the side of the building to get inside...
No cart service or marshals on the site and no water on the course in 90 degree heat, even for a prime Saturday tee time??? There were 3 turkeys and one deer out there however, but they didn't have water either...
Over priced at 20 bucks...Don't waste your time or money here.
Decent Round
1st time playing the course and I expected it to be more difficult and in better condition than it was. Still a fun course and I would go back there as it was not too expensive for the yardage.
