Old School Design
Great old school design. A walker's course with tricky greens. Friendly staff. Clubhouse needs updating but the breakfast was delicious. Pro Shop was well stocked. Looking forward to playing again soon.

Great greens
I’ve played Rancho in the past, they seem to be improving the course. Fun layout . The greens were in the best condition I’ve ever seen, smooth and fast. Fairways need a little work but for the money, quite a bargain.

Rancho
Fairways pretty good shape, rough riddled with gopher holes. Keep in the fairway.. Very good value if you wait until the day you will play and use Golf Now. You do risk time slot will be taken

Great Course
Overall a great course. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but I also wouldn’t say it’s bad. It’s definitely a standard course which is something that you can’t say about other courses. With that said, other than a few patches of crab grass and a bumpy cart ride you will find an awesome lay out with tricky but fun greens. The view of my hometown keeps mw coming back. Fairways
Fix the fairways and the course would be a lot better. Cut down the dead trees, they are gonna fall on someone one day. Greens are super nice though

Greens
The greens had a lot of sand on them which made it very hard to put and hole 13 the flag wasn’t in the cup because the flag hole had to much sand in it!!!!

Enjoyable day of golf
Nice course layout with no parallel fairways so the chance of getting struck by a ball from a player on a different fairway is remote.
Greens were just sanded, so putting was awful. Normally the greens are average and putt fine. The tee boxes could use some work to upgrade them and the same for the bunkers. The potential for making this an excellent course is high. The carts do not have tops nor windshields which is a negative because of increased sun exposure and a lack of protection from the wind and an errant golf shot.

Best course for the value
Coming from Los Angeles County, it's not often you get to play on a course with this type of layout. Love playing here whenever I am in Santa Maria visiting the family. This course has a lot of character. It's not amazing, but when you're out there - you're glad to be there.
Conditions can be better, sure - but they make up for it on the greens and fun layout. Tee box can use some work. Most were uneven. Can't tell when the fairway and the rough meet. The bunkers were a little packed. But who cares when the pace of play is great, and the weather is perfect - most of the time.
When playing here, just remember you're in the country and slow down & just take in the scene. I will always play at Rancho every visit to the 805!
