Marcus Pointe Golf Club
About
Marcus Pointe Golf Club tumbles across 600 acres of rolling woodlands, which is a rare occurrence in the mostly flat Panhandle area. The back nine is where golfers really begin to notice the dramatic undulations. Earl Stone, who has designed several Gulf Coast golf courses, created the layout. He has built his reputation on building playable and affordable courses. While water may not come into play often, golfers will still be kept on their toes by the numerous sand bunkers and an abundance of trees and of course, the tricky angles and elevation changes throughout. The golf course is challenging but fair with a playability that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. The greens are well manicured and keep all abilities in mind. Four sets of tees make Marcus Pointe Golf Club even more accessible.

Good greens and pace of play
The greens are in good condition, a bit on the slow side, but still roll well. This was our second straight day booking the course due to the course being in good condition. I normally don't play weekends and was worried our twosome would be held up. However, the pace of play was very good, mainly due to the fact there were several twosomes booked so nobody fell behind any slower playing groups of four. The fairways are also in good shape, and even number 3 and the repair work in the middle of 18 has been resolved over the past 6 weeks or so.
Course is in very good shape - fairways and greens especially. We were a bit rushed to finish our round prior to the start of a shotgun start tournament, but the marshall let us know the situation and accommodated us as we finished our round. We skipped a couple holes and returned afterwards in order for the tourney players to set out on their assigned holes. Weather was great following a mild cold front and added to the enjoyment of the day. The greens rolled well, albeit a little slow. Overall, a very fun day and pleased to see the course in such a good condition.
Good course, was overcharged by staff in the grill.
I play Marcus Pointe frequently and the course conditions are normally very consistent which is not my gripe. I normally buy a couple of beverages throughout the round but today I bought a sandwich and a beverage. My total should have been $11.50 but I was charged $12.50, initially I thought it could’ve been tax but after looking at the menu it stated prices were tax included. My first instinct would have been it was an honest mistake but I remember the cashier looking at her fellow worker with a wry smile. I didn’t catch on at first but as I stated after looking at the menu I realized that I had been duped.
First off thanks for playing and the great review!! I apologize for any charges to you in the grille that were incorrect. Please email me and provide me the details so that we may resolve this matter!!
Sincerely,
Frank Sneed, PGA

Great Course
This course was great. Greens were a little slow. But good challenge. I've been golfing for 2 years now and the fairways are great and the greens look great.
Great staff and round
First time playing this course and while it wasn’t perfect it had a good amount of character. The greens were slow but true. I’d give them an 8 on the stimp. Had a 7:40 as a single and they sent me out to hole 5 to get ahead of everyone and I flew. Once I finished up sent me back on 1-4 and finished up my round in 2 hours. Starter was awesome. I’m from out of town but will be back here next summer and will play again. Good value and super staff.
Redemption
Marcus pointe scared me away for over a year because of how bad the condition it was in. The course has made a complete 180 in quality conditions. They’re are a few holes here and there that need work but grass is growing back specifically holes 3 and 5. Not horrible condition. The greens are most important to me and they’re super enjoyable to putt on. Consistent grass growth and finely manicured course is a steal for the price. Also 15 minutes away from my house!
Great conditions, not for out of towners.
This course conditions were great, but I felt like I was back at home in Texas instead of in Florida on vacation. Pace was a little slow for a mid day tee time. Greens rolled great and look incredible. Just not a “Florida” like course.
Course in good condition
Fairways and greens well watered. Good summertime conditions. Some of the bunkers a little firm. Overall, a good day.
Enjoyable day
The chance of thunderstorms left the course practically empty and we were able to breeze through 36 holes today. There is no replay rate which is very uncommon and will likely impact our decision next time we're looking to play more than 18. The fairways are in fairly good condition with the exception of a hole in the middle of #18, and of course the always terrible #3 fairway is per normal. The greens are getting some speed to them making them more enjoyable, and they roll really good. Some kind of grass similar looking to crab grass is popping up on several of the greens although it's not affecting the lines for now. The course is definitely worth the summer rate specials.
Bad shape
Marcuse Point was the place to play but the last three time it progressively getting worse. I don’t understand it. Very disappointing.
Example of what is ruining golf
M P is a good example if what is ruining golf
Members who think they own the course play slow hold up play and let no one thru
Next are players who are new to the game and think they have to play all 200 shirts and find every ball
Marshall’s who don’t keep play moving
Singles and doubles who won’t join and make play faster so you have ones and twos following slow and inexperienced players
This will be the death of golf
Just ask koepka
course marshals don't do their jobs
Play was backed up behind a group with 5 players on Sunday morning, they were not playing ready golf nor did they allow faster groups through. As the marshals drove past the group they did nothing but wave.
I'll be back
I've played this course twice as I visit my family yearly. The layout is its beat feature. Challenging in that the greens are heavily guarded by bunkers but the fairways are reasonably wide. You have to have a terrible shot to lose a ball here. Now understand this is a public course so there are patches in the fairways and the bunkers can be a little hard packed, so unless you're a golf snob you'll enjoy it for the price. Oh, and Mary at the pro shop is a sweetheart. Have fun and hit em straight!
Marcus Pointe enjoyable
Course in good shape, could only play nine as developed a painful blister. Staff not as accommodating as they could have been but think they cater mire to members/regulars
Thanks for the 5 star review! Glad you enjoyed your day at Marcus Pointe and thanks for your cooperation in preparation for the event. Hope to have you out again soon!
