Marcus Pointe Golf Club
About
Marcus Pointe Golf Club tumbles across 600 acres of rolling woodlands, which is a rare occurrence in the mostly flat Panhandle area. The back nine is where golfers really begin to notice the dramatic undulations. Earl Stone, who has designed several Gulf Coast golf courses, created the layout. He has built his reputation on building playable and affordable courses. While water may not come into play often, golfers will still be kept on their toes by the numerous sand bunkers and an abundance of trees and of course, the tricky angles and elevation changes throughout. The golf course is challenging but fair with a playability that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. The greens are well manicured and keep all abilities in mind. Four sets of tees make Marcus Pointe Golf Club even more accessible.

Beware of greens
Normally this course is an exceptional value. However, the greens, especially on the back 9 are hurting considerably, which is a bit uncommon in this area for mid-Spring. Several bare areas on multiple greens, with some greens maybe 60-70% playable area. They have reduced the size of some of the greens considerably to allow them to fill in before the summer. A bit bumpy and didn't roll as true as they normally roll, but for the deal time price we paid it was still a good day. We play early morning so there wasn't a starter yet and the lady at the pro shop was very friendly and said we could go out when we were ready. There were only 6 cars in the parking lot when we arrived. The friendliness towards us because we booked a Hot Deal time is very uncommon at Marcus Point. Normally the men in the pro shop are rather rude if it's a Hot Deal time. I understand the course doesn't see any income for the time slot, but if you don't like the arrangement with GolfNow then cancel the agreement; don't take it out in the patrons. We've been there several times in the past with the 10:30 or 11:30 Hot Deal time, depending on the season, and the starter sheet is clearly empty for the hour or so leading up to our tee time but we're not allowed to go off early. The starters are always friendly, but you can easily see it's the course management keeping an eye through the pro shop windows that have implemented this change over the past year or so. It's just as easy to see the starters are just a bunch of good old guys who disagree with the policy towards the Hot Deal time slots but they're hands are tied. The starting attitude wasn't an issue this particular tee time, which is the first time we've played the early Hot Deals time. I would recommend giving the course until at least after May before playing to allow the greens to recover, especially if you're paying full rate.
This course is in terrible shape. By far the worst shape out off all courses in the area. The fairways are sparse and the greens are long and patchy. I will probably not play this course again
Very disappointed
Slow pace of play. Was not informed that they were aeration on six of the nine holes
Had fun, a real challenge
A great layout with some unique greens, that really test your skill
Greens need work
Although the course is emerging from winter conditions, the greens have not kept pace with the rest of the course, and and in worse condition than many of the area courses.
Nice course
Nice course, just really SLOW bcuz of how many golfers
Good course
Nice course. A lot of players and play was slow. Group in front would not let us play thru which made for a very long round. Greens are in good shape and fast
Fairways and greens are in poor condition
Pro shop staff was friendly and we allowed to start about twenty early when the tee box was open. This course has good potential however the fairways and greens are in poor condition.
Skip this course for sure!
The greens are small with a ridiculous amount of slope and have crabgrass throughout all of them. The fairways had very little grass and are very poorly maintained. The course is tight and appears to not receive routine maintenance. The bunkers were in good shape but there is almost nothing that would make you want to play this course
Golf review
Course was in good shape with work being done seasonally on course, greens very tough with slopes all around. Staff was awesome in all positions and went “extra mile” to make you feel welcomed. Will definitely go back on next trip!!
Rough
The course was in pretty bad shape. Some greens were nice, but the fairways were nonexistent on a majority of the holes. I will wait for a few months to go back.
great greens
The greens are great. The fairly are being verticut and should spring new turf shortly. It was a good test today. I recommend playing this course
Very challenging greens.
We always have a wonderful experience at Marcus Point. A very challenging course and tough greens. Course is in excellent shape. Thanks again for a great day.
Poor greens
This is the first course as a GolfNow player I received obvious and poor treatment from man in pro shop , where non GolfNow players were treated better. He worked very hard in not letting our foursome get out on time. The two gentlemen my wife and I played with were fine players and made the day enjoyable. The course had a lot of bare fairways and slow bumpy greens!!
When we checked in we were immediately told we could not tee off early since we were golf now people. Didn’t ask to tee off early so that was a little unnecessary. We waited 35 minutes to tee off and not one person was sent to the tee, so a little ridiculous.
As for the course, most of the fairways were brown and barely any grass. Greens were the slowest of any course we have played in Pensacola. The course layout was good but would not return.
