Marcus Pointe Golf Club
About
Marcus Pointe Golf Club tumbles across 600 acres of rolling woodlands, which is a rare occurrence in the mostly flat Panhandle area. The back nine is where golfers really begin to notice the dramatic undulations. Earl Stone, who has designed several Gulf Coast golf courses, created the layout. He has built his reputation on building playable and affordable courses. While water may not come into play often, golfers will still be kept on their toes by the numerous sand bunkers and an abundance of trees and of course, the tricky angles and elevation changes throughout. The golf course is challenging but fair with a playability that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. The greens are well manicured and keep all abilities in mind. Four sets of tees make Marcus Pointe Golf Club even more accessible.

THE DUFFER
I'm a high handicap golfer, but I love playing. This course is well maintained. The greens were in great shape. I played with two of my cousins and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was excellent! We had lunch at the restaurant and the food was very good. Everyone was extremely friendly. We will play here again...
Marcus Pointe in Good Shape Right Now
Marcus Pointe is in very good shape right now. That includes the greens. Although a little slower than I prefer, the ball rolls true. I play this course 6-7 times per year and have seen it in both good/bad conditions. Right now it is definitely worth playing!
Played on a cold windy January day so......
Played this course in January so I didn't expect perfect fairways but I had played other Pensacola area courses and their fairways where in much better condition. The greens where also not the best. But I did like the layout, short from the red tees but you had to have accurate shots to stay out of trouble. I will play this course again to give it another try.
Good Off-Season Conditions on a Nice Course
Considering that it's January and they had sub-freezing temps the previous weekend, course was in pretty nice shape. Lots of mounding and some rolling terrain made it more interesting than the usual Florida layout. Greens were reasonably good. Watch the trees-I did it close up on the back. Played with Adam from the pro shop and he and Ben, the pro, were very welcoming. I had a great time.
Challenging
Challenging course for intermediate player. Tight fairways with well sloped greens. Straight drives and a gentle touch a must. It was fun to play.
Got a great price on golf now.
The course is chalanging
We played 18 holes and the course was in great shape except for some of the white and red tee boxes, they were pretty beat up. The pin placements were very challenging and the greens were faster than some of the other courses I've played in the area , which is a plus plus in my book. Look forward to playing it again soon and booking my tee time on GolfNow. Great price for the round.
GREAT COURSE... GREAT CONDITION...
Great layout and under new management. They spend money on maintaining course and it shows. Nice tree lined course. Not too hard and not too easy. Greens are fast and in good condition. Played it about 10 times with my buddies. A nice gem in Pensacola..........
Hi Rex, thank you for the excellent review! We are happy to hear that you appreciate our course layout and scenery. We think it is an "inbetweener," or intermediate, course ourselves and we like it that way! Thanks for coming around a lot and writing this nice review. We look forward to seeing you and your buddies soon!
best bang for the buck
Course in great condition, nice layout and everyone was very courteous!
Hi Dennis, we know this is a little delayed but thank you for the excellent review! We are happy to hear you enjoy our layout paired with our friendly staff. Thank you for taking the time to review us. We hope to see you again!
Very good overall experience
Course was in very good shape. Sand was consistent and well placed. Course had a little to much in the way of grass clippings left but could have been result of recent period of rain. Not much in the way of water on the course.
Another typical Pensacola/Florida Course
I have played Marcus Pointe many times in the past, and in general its overall condition is improving. However, the day I played-and I note it was the same day they were holding a tournament-I found the fairways and greens overgrown and soft. Far too like many of the courses in this part of Florida, the fairway was like hitting out of the second cut of rough on some courses and the greens were extremely slow. Not only were the fairways overgrown, but they were extremely soft underneath the grass making it almost impossible to compress the ball against the turf, affecting the quality of iron shots and preventing drives from rolling out more than a couple of feet from where they land. The course has a fun layout with a lot of potential, and they are making progress in its condition, but for right now, the $17 that I paid to play was a more than fair price.
go play somewhere else...
Great Condition!!!!
My wife and I really enjoyed playing Marcus Point. Great condition. Greens were superb. Will definitely play again soon.
Course
Fun course to play. Awesome lay out and well maintained greens
Enjoyed course
The golf course was in very good condition. With several different choice of tees you can make it as difficult as you like. The greens were a bit slow but pretty true. The only thing I did not enjoy about the round was pace of play. I arrived early and was allowed to start. After three holes, I encountered 3 groups of 5 players that I was allowed to play thru so I went around. There wasn't a starter or a marshall and one group was upset I went around. Really 3 fivesomes.
Marcus
Greens are in excellent shape and course condition is overall quite good. A couple fairways are thin, making for some tough lies.
Important info
Everything good. Would be nice to know when a course has closed the front or back nine for work or repairs. Playing the back nine twice was not ideal especially at full price. Probably would have played elsewhere if we had known.
Great Value
I played here the other day - it was very convenient, rented clubs, played as a single and they were great in getting me off quickly.
Course itself was fine - nothing really special or of note, but all in all it was an enjoyable round. Very little water on the course, a lot of room off of the tee.
I would play again, but not go out of my way for it.
Awesome Experience
We played Marcus Point 5 years ago and don't remember an experience like this. From the moment we walked into the pro shop the entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The course itself was very challenging and beautiful. The cart girl Shei was awesome as well. My daughter and I will most definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful 2 days of golf.
course needs maintenance
Greens on first nine were patches of just patches of poa
Fun time
While the course is not yet up to the level it used to be, management is doing a good job of getting it there. We enjoyed our round of golf
best course in Pensacola even in the winter.
I've played almost all coarses in Pensacola this winter and Marcus Point is probably in the best shape .
Hi Robert, thank you for the awesome review! We are so happy to hear that you had a great experience while at our course. We are glad that your pace of play and challenging layout was well-desired. Thank you for your kind words. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
