St. Lucie Trail Golf Club - hole 14 Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 09/21/2018
A beautiful and challenging course with one major problem....pin placements. There were no indications of the location of the holes. It would also have been helpful if the score cards gave you an outline of each hole.
Lots of bunkers
Typical course that anyone named Fazio would design. Lots of bunkers. Excellent conditions and terrific layout.
Challenging & Unique
The golf course was very green and in great shape! Course maintenance was one of the best in the area. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Free range balls for warm-up was awesome! Every golf hole was different and unique. No two holes were similar, which made for a challenging and fun experience! The course provides a solid test of golf. I will definitely try to play the course again this summer!
Quality course
The course is in great shape after PGA sold it and is still one of the best course you will find in the area. The grill is not open yet and looking forward to that and Golfnow has some good prices.
A Course With Heart
Supposedly this course is offered as part of/instead of the 3 courses at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie. To be honest, I can't say this for sure as I am permanently turned off by the outrageous prices at the Village and their unwillingness to have any kind of specials or discounts for Fla. residents. It use to be a place to go years ago but this review is more about the attractiveness and professionalism exhibited @ the Trail. This course doesn't have to take a back seat to it's 3 ugly sisters and is every bit as good, if not better. Conditions are excellent and you're treated with respect from the moment you pull up. Played there 3 times in the last 4 months and haven't had a bad experience yet. Thank you Trail for showing a heart to residents and visitors alike who are just looking for a fair deal at a superb course.
best conditioned course on our trip
we played after torrentil rains over the previous few days so it was cart path only. Despite the conditions the greens were beautifull and fairly fast. Staff was friendly and we were able to play on a nearly empty golf course. The price listed is the official price, we got a discount through a member. The course has a few challenging holes but is not excessively punishing and there are no surprises. This was one of our favorites of our trip..
Tight at times but solid overall
St. Lucie Trail is the former private PGA Country Club located in the heart of PSL. Now it's public and serves as the off-campus course for PGA Golf Club (though the PGA is looking to sell it). The course doesn't look overly intimidating, but a number of holes are quite narrow and can extract big numbers from wayward drivers. If you're striking the ball well, though, it's a really good test of your long game, and in good shape to boot. Rates here are substantially lower than at the main three PGA GC courses, too.
plan on returning,,without fierce winds
great course,,moved quickly,,windy like never before..
hope to return on calm day next spring! great staff and facilities.
Tight
Too tight for me. Houses and hazards line almost all of the holes, and close to the fairway. Our whole group struggled with the course - we were much happier to head to the other PGA village courses where there is some breathing room.
A nice range and friendly staff.
A course that plays tougher than the yardage
I live in St.Lucie on a seasonal basis. I was a member at a local private course, but resigned and decided to play on the course i live on. Though it is not private the staff treat you as a member. The course is great condition fairways are lush and greens fast. Though the course is not long, the front 9 is tough and from tournament tees plays to a 139 slope. The back 9 is somewhat easier but a premium is on being stright on the whole 18. There are holes where you would better off hitting fairway woods , instead of driver. The course put a premium on iron play as the greens are small and pins can be put in tight spots. The staff from pro shop to outside are all friendly and helpful. A great place to play.
Get Out Your Sand Iron
Not long, but a challenging course with many many strategically place bunkers. The replacement greens are fast and true and do tend to break more than most Florida greens. All in all a very fine golf course.
Great Course
Even though this is a somewhat short course it's still quit challenging. Narrow fairways make this a placement type course, long is not always good here. The course also favors the player that can shape his or her ball flight. If you like having to place your shots and not just whack the ball this is the course for you. But don't be fooled by it's length and really think about what tee box you choose, a little shorter is not always a bad thing.
