Governor's Towne Club

This was the second time I've played this course and the course conditions were slightly less ideal than about a year ago. This may be that it's played more often to the public now as it was once private. But the course is still one of the best in the area and is worth the trip to play even though it's a bit pricey.

for $60 a round at this course I was expecting a LOT more than what i received. The only real perk of the day was that range balls are complimentary. the fairways were in rough shape, many tight lies and the greens were like glass. Overall it is not worth the money in my opinion and I will not be returning to this course. There are many other nice courses in the area. If you are near this course consider playing Cobblestone down the street.

Very pristine course. A LOT of water. For this time of year I was expecting the course to be a bit greener however the ball lies well in the fairway. Greens are well kept and play true. Overall, a lot of bang for your buck.

The greens had been aerated and this was not noted when I purchased the tee time.

Love this course/layout! Picturesque, challenging but fair and one of the best layouts in the Atlanta area. A bit pricey if you don't get a GolfNow deal, but even without one, it's one you should put on your local bucket list. I have played it several times over the last year and always look forward to going back. Conditions were good, even early in the season.

This course by itself if beyond picturesque. You almost forget about the score and just enjoy the scenery. From tee to fairway, this course of was in absolute beautiful condition. If there is a down side, the greens had been aerated and lots of sand, but everything else makes up for it. I'd play it again even in this condition. Oh, and the range balls are free, and setup like the pros, so if you aren't a pro, you can pretend that day. I will play this course many times this year, but it's tad bit more expensive on the weekend.

I played only one week after green aerification and the bermuda was dormant (meaning sand gathered on putts and you had difficultly getting the ball to sit up during play). Nevertheless, one is challenged by the layout and variety thereof and is wasn't hard to visualize the course's appeal when the greens have healed and the grass has sprouted. The front is long and the back shorter and requires more precision, but more than a few forced carries are required. I intend on playing it again when in full bloom.

Beautiful course for all level of play.

Since it was my first time here I played from the blue tee and it's still challenging.

Every hole requires good shots to make it to the green in regulation. No shortcuts.

Greens are in very good condition.

Arriving at the very grand club house gives you an expectation that this is a very exclusive club and I can say that the course condition reflects this completely. Although wetter on the fairways than expected given recent weather, the course was in near perfect condition. Greens were firmer and subtly undulating giving a few reading headaches and the layout punished poor shots without being too penal. Some holes need some local knowledge to end up in the correct position but all are fair and testing. A good mix of short and long par 3's, par 4's and par 5's with even a reachable par 4 on the 10th. Off course the club is very relaxed and avoids the stigma of its exclusive persona. Staff and members were very friendly and the clubhouse had a very relaxed atmosphere. Would love to play in the summer as I predict the course would be in perfect condition. Worth the $80.... Just. If the same price in the spring/summer it will be great value.

Course was soggy but drains well. Food offerings are not great for s private country club. Management is very courteous but the cart staff could have been a bit more friendly.

Cart path only after heavy rain the day before didn't diminish the quality of play much. Course drained fairly well. every hole offered different layou and elevations. Greens were in great shape. Will definitely come back if still on GN.

This is a FIRST class course and the staff is VERY friendly. Course condition was excellent.

Caught great deal on golfnow.com - chilly night caused frost delay but multiple marshals working the course we're informative and friendly about new tee time, found me on range and gave me all details to smoothly warm up and proceed to 10 tee. Range balls included, nice bunker area to work on sand game, expansive practice green. Course in great shape for December, speedy bent greens, scenic and enjoyable. Marshals on course kept pace moving on Sunday even with frost delay to allow folks to play in about four hours or so. Back to back par fives on one nine was curious but no big deal - massive clubhouse is being finished which will be grand. Played gold tees which were about 6800 yards - tips over 7200....great morning on a chilly December day - strongly recommend this course.

Great course and great conditions. This was my first time playing the course and I really liked the course. It was VERY slow playing. I was a single playing the front nine and was held up by a twosome who would not let me play through. I joined up with three others for the back nine and we were still held up by the same slow twosome. The entire round took 5:45 hrs to play and I did not even stop at the turn to get a snack or drink.

Great course in great condition. The best bent grass greens you’ll find. I hope it stays on Golf Now. Take advantage of it while it lasts.

A rare GN tee-time opened up so my golf buddy and I teed it up on a Saturday afternoon. Clubhouse is under renovation and is understandably beat up. Greeted in the parking lot with a cart. Even after weeks of rain, the grass range was in excellent conditions with sighted flag yardages and a cleaning station for the clubs. Large putting area and the greens were very smooth and quick, and remarkable consistent and unblemished all day. Course was very interesting with a combination of short and long homes, doglegs and forced carry with the occasional water to vary the challenge. Layout is one of the better in the region - need to think through every tee-ball to take advantage of the short-cuts. Bunkers were well maintained and we rarely saw anyone else out on the course. Will be back. Can't wait to see the coarsen the spring as it's terrain and foliage was great, although mostly dormant.

I can't play this course enough. Great track in great condition. Anyone reading review take full advantage to play this course while it is available on golf now

I had a day to kill while north of Atlanta. I was so lucky to play here. It was the best courses I have ever played. Great holes with a top of topography. IN fantastic shape even after a week of rain. Friendly staff and played with three members that may my round a pleasure.

Very scenic course with lots of elevation change.

Greens were very smooth and true.

Weather was cold and rainy so I got around in 3 hours.
