Great layout! Fabulous greens. Even the roughs were easily accessible. Would love to play again at Governors Towne!

This course is a hidden gem. The layout is challenging but fair. Pace of play was excellent on the day we played. Great friendly staff and the Govenors Club Sandwich was delicious.
Highly recommend this course. Will definitely be back.

I played the GTC for the second time today. I played last week also. Its a really nice layout that has been cared for. The tee boxes, and fairways and rough are in excellent condition. Wonderful landscaping abounds. The cart paths are in great shape and they use electric carts. A big plus in my book. The greens last week were cut closer so today they played pretty slow. They were also very soft both times and it's important to repair any divot marks. I would like to play here again. Just a note. Make sure you show up with the proper attire! I wore light weight pants with pockets on the side. I was informed that I could not play in "cargo shorts" Period. So I had to buy a pair in their golf shop. They did give me 20 percent off....AND...No untucked shirts either. Ok..Perhaps I missed this, but I think they need to make this clearer on this site to avoid this problem in the future.

This course was worth the experience. We had an absolute blast the entire time we were on the property. From top to bottom, this is a first class club and I would recommend anyone within a reasonable driving distance purchase a membership.

Great course conditions. There was a big rain the day before I played but the course was soft rather than soggy. Very challenging holes especially the long uphill par 4's. Driving range is in incredible condition. Would join as a member I didn't live 35 miles away.

Truly impressive course. Fairways, layout, hole interest are first rate. Each tee seems private with great sight lines to the hole, even through the woods ;). Yardages are not gradual between boxes with big distance changes. Criticisms on the greens are justified, but definitely a must play.

Great course with lots of character. Definitely in the top 10 Atlanta semi private courses. Layout is challenging but not too punitive. Generous fairways. Greens were damaged but playable. I will definitely plan to play here again.

The first 9 holes are much more difficult than the back 9 so if you can grind it out on the front you can at least take a breath on the back 9. Very long from the tips but generous fairways make it playable. Hitting the fairway is important to scoring and hitting greens; the rough can be penal in spots.

I really like the layout, staff, facility, cart & fairways. The greens were definitely NOT the quality I was expecting for an expensive, high end private club. They reminded me of the old greens that were at Cobblestone (also in Acworth) for years; very loose, big dead spots, poor coverage. The contours of the green were great and would have made for a top notch track with the right grass and maintenance. Fairways / rough were awesome! Tee boxes were also great. I'm glad to check this one off as having played there but probably won't go back until I hear that the greens have been replaced.

We played GTC on A Tue and no one else was on the course. Beautiful venue, quiet surroundings, manicured fairways, and a very nice course. There are a few greens with bad spots. But the good truly outweighs the bad. This is a private course and look forward to the opportunity of playing it again soon.

The facilities are as nice as you would expect for a private course. Staff are extremely nice and helpful. The tees and fairways are in excellent shape. The greens are in average shape. Everyone should play at least once, has some challenging holes and a few nice views. Expected more being a private course!

Played this course for the first time since it was opened to the public as "member for a day". The course layout was nice with 5 tee boxes for various levels of play. The tee boxes and fairways were in good shape but the bent grass greens were suffering from the summer heat and humidity. Most greens were very spotty. Hopefully the greens will recover in the cooler fall temps. The sand traps were in need of maintenance and there was a crew working on the front nine to bring them up to par. I guess my biggest disappointment was the overall course was not as plush as I had expected. Especially, for the cost of $55 bucks. There are better public courses in the area for less money...The Frog, Stonebridge in Rome, Fields Ferry Calhoun just to name a few.

Beautiful course design, long, challenging but fair. Playable and enjoyable as a first visit that makes one want to return. Conditions and maintenance overall are excellent but the greens are struggling with heat and have some inconsistencies, bare spots, and are still recovering from an aeration over a month ago. Uncrowded and unspoiled, with very few homes along the course yet. The very high-end neighborhood has clearly not sold out, and it's notable their magnificent, impressive clubhouse building is still unfinished after more than 10 years. Staff and service are top-notch. A round here is worthwhile, and worth a bit of a premium, but is not quite the top flight private club experience... yet.

Great layout - issues with the greens. The hot / dry conditions has taken its toll on the bentgrass greens.

Fantastic layout, however, the bent grass greens were bumpy and most contained goose grass. I played the gold tees at 6800 yards. The course was designed to be played from there or the back tees at nearly 7300 yards. My two playing partners played the blue tees at 6100 yards and had driver taken out of their hands on many holes and also had some blind shots. I loved the layout from the gold tees. Every fairway was tree lined and framed with fairway buckers, yet did not play or feel too narrow. It was a great mix of holes I could play day after day and not get bored. Everything was great except for the greens.

It's hard to believe that this is a private country club! The greens were in horrible condition! The public courses in this area are in much better condition. It's obvious this course is in financial trouble. Hard to believe that the members would let the greens get this way.

Great track. Nice views. Played 18 in 2:45. I will be back!!

The course is in pretty good shape. The greens are healing well after the aerification. Pace of play was not good. I only played 15 holes in 4 hrs. Two groups left in front of us. Maybe get a ranger and have the twosomes join each other.

great course enjoyed the round. the greens need work (dead spots). the sand traps hadn't been cleaned out or raked since storm two days ago. otherwise good.
