Governor's Towne Club

MUST play. First time playing GTC. Albeit the winter months tend to promote dormant tee boxes and fairways, but the course was well maintained and I could see the full potential when the course greens up in the Spring. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the 32 mile drive and traffic to and from downtown Atlanta was well worth the experience. Will be back!

Great course anytime and excellent conditions for mid-winter. Greens very fast but true, get below the hole! Challenging but really good layout.

I played a round in January so my expectations were not extremely high for winter golf. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the corse was. Everything was well manicured and the greens rolled extremely true at a moderately fast speed. I was very impressed with the course layout with open fairways and a fair amount of hazards. You could pick your poison with very long tee boxes to challenge the best golfers. I can't wait to go back when it warms up.

The course website has videos of each hole. You will want to look at these before playing. I lost 4 balls in the water, each on a different hole, because the water hazard was just over the hill or around the corner.

This is not acourse to go out and blast away. You really need to give some consideration to managing your game. It is definitely a thinking-man's course.

Course is always in incredible shape, challenging, but fair. Always a great time and really solid bang for your buck. Also far enough away from the city that a weekend round doesn't take 5 hours or more- always get done in under 4:30 on the weekends and play as fast as we want to through the weeks.

No exterior pockets on your pants or shorts allowed. They send this message on your confirmation but most people don't look at it so be forewarned they will not allow you on the course with those. That being said the course is in magnificent shape and the greens are like putting on a pool table. Staff and amenities were very nice. This course is a definite must play if you are in the northwest Atlanta area.

Always wanted to play this course since the majority of the reviews were great. I was not disappointed. Best course I have played this winter. Conditions on the fairways and especially the greens were excellent. Staff very friendly. Hope it stays semi-private so I can play it again in the spring.

This is a great golf course. The layout and course conditions are really nice with fast greens and variety of tee locations/combinations! Unfortunately, the service was lacking. The staff is friendly but bare bones. Our tee tome was 1pm and we waited an hour for a golf cart and finally were able to get on the course shortly after 2pm. Obviously they have a cart shortage (plus the cart died on the 14th hole). We would play the course again since it is a great trac but just just not expect the level of service at a club of this caliber.

Have played numerous courses around the Atlanta area, including many club corp courses, and this course Beats the mm all. I know it used to be private, and just recently opened its doors to the public, so play while you can. Can't beat the golf now value either.

Great course...first time playing...but well worth the drive and look forward to coming back...

This course is a gem! So glad that my buddy asked me to play this well conditioned layout. Greens and bunkers were particularly nice. Beware, the finishing holes 16,17 and 18 are difficult. It's definitely worth the drive from the ATL.

Practice facilities are great, including short game area. Course is beautiful and in great shape. Lots of challenging holes, but very playable from the correct tee markers. They do a number of combo tees, so you can really pick your own yardage and the scorecards are marked as to correct tee box on every hole for every combo.

The barrel of apples on #1 and #10 is a nice touch.

I really like this course and it was in a great shape but it's a little pricey considering other options in the area. It is a nice place for me to play a few times a year but I can easily play a slightly less nice course for almost half the price.

Enjoyed my round, the weather, and the pace of play. Nothing but great things to say about the staff, practice facilities, and the speed of the greens.

Wow, what a find ! Less than hour north of Atlanta, this beautiful and multi-scenic golf course lets you know at first sight what your in for. The Governors Towne Club is a magnificent golf course that presents itself with many Post card type views. . It has many elevation changes , hills , hills and more valleys. The course conditions were superb. The bent greens were true and rolled well. Best advice here is to make sure you have a GPS unit with you and know your club distances very well as you will need every club in your bag and accuracy.

Playing most of my golf in Florida, this was a beautiful change. Lots of fun.The staff greets you with a smile and takes pride in their golf course. If you are in the Atlanta area this is worth the drive. I will definitely play this course again !
