About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

NOT SURE
CAN'T DECIDE IF I LIKE. HOUSES ARE VERY CLOSE TO COURSE WHICH MAKES SOME HOLES TIGHT. NOT A GOOD WALKING COURSE. WAY TOO MANY HOLES THAT ARE SPACED OUT VERY LONG. FAIRWAYS WERE OK, NOT PLUSH. GREENS WERE GOOD TO FAIR. WILL TRY ONCE MORE TO MAKE A BETTER JUDGEMENT
No carts after 5pm
The staff was extremely friendly, but in the interest of giving this place a fair review for the average golfer, I must be honest. We scheduled a 2:30pm tee time, and after a 40min drive, we were notified that all carts must be returned by 5:00pm (sunset was 6:30pm). The driving range mentioned in the listing was only allowed for the residents of this 55+ Community. We played 9 holes and will cross this off the list for future play. Not worth the drive.

Great shape.
One of the better courses in the area. I love playing there and the staff is always smiling and helpful.
The greens are in great shape and are undulating so there are no gimme putts. We play the tips and despite the course not being long it is not any pushover.
Great Friendly Staff
I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. It is a nice golf community. You cannot beat friendly inviting folks at the course and they have it! I liked the course. The fairways could use a little more grass, but I could always find some to hit off of and the greens were in good shape.

Gated Community Golf
The staff were helpful and welcoming. We were paired with a couple that lived at there. Pat and sue were a fun couple, good hosts.
I'm not a fan of the housing development golf courses. Just too busy with people hanging out in their lani's and chatting, playing music, dogs barking, etc, the course has a few well designed holes, a few average holes and a few hole that are jammed in between the houses.

Good lay out Short on grass
Many areas are without grass OR not marked as under repair. good selection of tees

I try to be fair with my assessment. Firstly coming from up north we play courses in our area in much better shape for $30. I understand where I am and the demand dictates the price but the only thing that was better than a 1 or 2 rating was the greens.....and that would be a slim 2-1/2. The fairways and roughs (which honestly on many holes hard to differentiate) were bare or grass so matted down it was hard to hit off of. One thing i will say is they told us if we brought beverages to bring them along which we didnt know before so if you want to pack a cooler it is OK here.The signage trying to find clubhouse was non existent, parking is pretty lousy as they had a good part of it taken up by the golf carts being lined up for golfers to take out. Over all you can do much better I would think even if you have to pay a few extra bucks it would be worth it.

Very Friendly Staff
The staff at Riverside are very friendly & helpful. The course, though, needs some work. Tee boxes were a mess. Greens were good but very tough to read for a first timer playing the course.
Warning.... lots of water!
Our foursome did have a fun time though.

Really Nice Course
Pace of play was a bit slow. Ranger should have been more present moving people along. Other than that, it is a great course in really good condition
Great layout.
I look at the course as an executive course on steroids.
The greens are in decent shape, some are slightly slower than most of them. So of course your games gets thrown off.
Everyone is friendly and very helpful, I've never had any issues for all my years of playing there. I don't think paying over $50 for a round there is quite worth it though.
Overall I enjoy the course and will always play there during the rainy days and when everywhere else is over priced.
