About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

Greens were in good shape, but several fairways were extremely dried out and needed water and seed
Okay for now
I'm only recommending the course because of the price, it actually is overpriced right now, but is cheaper than anywhere else except for the claw at USF. They are trying to revive parts of the course.
The layout is also worth trying, I think they need a ranger on some days, but most of their golfers are members and their members expect to have it their way.

Nice track! I love that it is spread out. No hole that goes up and then down sharing the same fairways. Greens were excellent. Lots of green side bunkers making the approach challenging.
Slow moving
Only complaint I have is that is was really slow, I mean like 10 minutes between swings. We quit at hole 14. As we made our way to the clubhouse we could see the reason why it was so slow - a twosome on 16, no one in front of them for 2 holes. Where's the marshal?

first time played
course dry in need of water and fertlizer outside the center fairway. greens needed attention but fine.i enjoyed playing and look fwd to play again thank you for your service

Nice for the Price
2nd time playing. Greens are very nice as well as the bunkers( nice fluffy & raked sand) & tee boxes (level with good grass). Pace was excellent....4 hours for a 4some, and very few others on the course. Course is very tight, with houses very close to almost all the fairways, and most often water on the other side....definitely not a course for bad slicers! A pretty short course, but have to make shots to score. The only negative on the course is the fairways are cut very short & quite thin, which seems to be the norm for most FL courses for some strange reason. I was told they have just completed renovating their irrigation system, so hopefully with some warmer weather they'll be able to grow the grass a little plusher on fairways. It was a tad better this time than 2 weeks ago when played here for the first time. Hopefully that trend continues!!! For the price, definitely will come back.
Deceptively tough
Many holes bordered closely by manufactured homes. Design makes it even tougher with lakes or OB down the side opposite the homes. You gotta be straight or it will be a long day. As others have said, greens are in really good shape. Traps have the fluffiest sand I've ever played, which made them super tough.
