About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

Join the Locals
This is certainly the place for the local homeowners to gather and play. We played in January so I assume the grass is not growing like it should. Then again, this course is overplayed and the turf has been pummeled into dust along the fairways and on the approaches near the greens. Bring your Texas Wedge since you can putt from 50 yards away. One hole was marked at as a 386 par four but the tee box was set up at 486 yards from the hole. On the bright side, the greens on the back nine are in good shape and everyone we talked with seemed glad to be we were there.
My round
Staff was great, friendly and pleasant. The course is pretty short but fun to play the fairway Grass is short and a little dormant it seems like but the greens were just fine. They said they just last year installed new irrigation so maybe that will help with some thicker grass. Will probably play this course again.

OK course
The course was OK. The greens were in good shape although on the slower side. Overall, there was nothing very memorable about the course. The most outstanding feature was the (new?) pure white sand in the bunkers. The course was a good value for the money.

Nice Course
Fairways and greens were in good shape. Fairways are lined with homes, not good if you suffer with a slice or hook.
Greens are Beautiful
The greens are in great shape and the fairways are coming in nicely. I thought the new teeboxes made for a really long par 4. May need to rerate the slope.
Our Day at Riverside Golf
We had a problem getting the front gate to open. Then when we got to the clubhouse we had to pay in cash because their systems were down. Pace of play was slow but we finish in under par time. Lots of work has been done on this course from when we played last year. We appreciated the improvements. We will play again.
Great afternoon
I was very pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course. The greens are very healthy, not quick, but very true. The sand traps are the best I’ve played in this area. The course is well looked after. Not a course for bombers that are concerned about windows though.

Improving Conditions
They are doing a lot of work on the course and it is in the best shape in the last year. My wife and I enjoy playing at Riverside and find it to be a good value.
Like to give these guys a big thumbs up, from last year to this year its been night and day. With the new irrigation system and the new pathways cant wait for the finish product.
