Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Black Robin Course
About
The Golf Club at Westcott Plantation may be owned by the city of North Charleston but it is far from being your typical municipal course. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines: Black Robin, Burn Kills, and Oak Forest. They each take their name from the plantation's long history, it's one of the oldest in the area. Care was taken to preserve the centuries-old live oaks and pristine wetlands that are scattered throughout the entire course. Black Robin is the tightest of the three nines with small greens that make it the most challenging as well. Every hole is framed by lush vegetation and various streams, ponds, and wetlands come into play throughout the course. The golf course ends with a welcome chance for a birdie in case you didn't fare too well on the tougher preceding holes.

Always Worth It
Westcott is conveniently located to highways, shopping, and residential areas but one finds themselves feeling alone from the world due to the course design.
There are three 9-hole courses allowing one to experience several different venues in one location. The staff is friendly and helpful. The course is kept in good shape.
Very Pleasantly Surprised
The course value was incredible. The course conditions were outstanding. The fairways were in perfect condition. The greens had been aerated recently but were in excellent condition and rolled true. I started out as a single and the ranger said that if I wanted to pair up with the twosome in front of me, they were fine with it, which I did after the first 3 holes. The course seemed relatively easy on the front 9, but became increasingly more difficult on the back 9. There are 27 holes and I started on the Black Burn 9 and finished up on the Black Robin 9. There were no extended waits, only short delays on the par 3s. It was one of my most pleasant golfing experiences in the Charleston area.
Pace of play was slow
Didn't see the Marshall at all and there were 2 extremely slow groups in front of us. That is my only complaint with this course. Overall very nice.
Classy with difficult hazards
Hello golf now I really enjoyed this course it was very challenging but at the sametime very fulfilling. There were no issues at all compared to a couple of the courses that I've played at in South Carolina I would recommend this course to anyone.
a little over priced.
well the greens where airated in the last 2 to 3 weeks. with mention of this from the club house would of been nice. With the practice green not airated it gave the golfer the feeling deflated when i walked on the first green. The rest of the course looked and played great. Although the greens are hard and fast. which leaves you putting from the fringe most the day. Hitting the green from 120+ yards out is unfairly hard. Ball marks were tough to find and harder to make. i guess to score good you need to hit the ball like an old man. Hit low and let it run on the green.
Great value
Greens had been recently aerated, but still rolled nice and fast. Played in 3 hours as a single. Ran into a couple of mixed foursomes, but they let me pass with no problem. Enjoyable afternoon. Great value. Regularly see deer grazing on the 17th hole.
excellent course
The course was great and the pace outstanding. The staff and conditions were excellent, would recommend this course to others.
Excellant course, great personnel
Excellent place, great staff, fairways, rough good, starter was congenial and food was good in the restaurant.
Pushy Marshall
Everything was great until Marshall was trying to be pushy about faster play .....we played as fast as we could had players in front of us and players hitting off senior tees behind us .....nowhere to go .....I love to play and my son and I was hoping for a great time the front nine was ok would of been better if the Marshall new what he was doing and new the rules of the game instead of being a water boy .....over all a great course ......
Great Course, Friendly Staff
Great course in my neighborhood. I just happened to pick a rainy evening.
Very nice layout
Clubhouse is great! This sets it up for the rest of your round. The two courses I played were in great shape except one or two greens that should require some attention. Will go back and recommend everyone try it
summertime
Greens were very fast, some tee boxes hard to get the tee into with long tees
Great time golfing
Pleasure golfing here the course was well kept and the greens were great and crew was hospitable
Waste of time and money!
I am once again writing a review about this place. I swore after a fourth straight round of more than 6 hours I would never go back but I got stupid and thought I would try it again. So I called in advance to check how busy it was and Ken at the pro shop said it was not bad at all and to come on out. When I got there and paid and went out to get cart the starter informed me that it was extremely busy and since I was a single he actually recommended that I get my money back which I did. I placed a call to Steven Rudd the head golf professional and left a message with my dissatisfaction and as I thought, I did not get a response back. Long story short, if you like extremely long rounds, and less than mediocre course conditions then this is your place. The only good thing about Wescott is the 22 dollar rate you can find on this site. Which is still more than it is worth!!
Fast Greens & Hard Fast Fairways
FAirways were so hard and tight it was very difficult to control any shot going forward to the greens. Greens were improved and fast....but fair.
Wescott is worth it
Good easy course that is fun boasting of wide fairways and large greens
Favorite course around
This is my favorite course in the area. Fairways in great shape. Greens on the Oak course were being shaped up and a little sandy, but have definitely seen worse in the area. Burn Kill course in great shape. Small touches like complementary water bottles throughout the course go a long way.
Excellent experience
Best value in the Charleston area. Quality and course layout comparable to pricy resort or semi private courses. Much better course than the antiquated City of Charleston course.
I am sorry you did not have a good experience with us, we strive to make sure our guests enjoy their time at Wescott Golf Club. I checked the tee sheet for the day you played and we had 99 "walk-in" rounds, with the majority of those in the afternoon between 4:00 - 5:00. It is quite possible that at the time you called it was quiet, but it then picked up. I would have called you back, but your message was rather long and the phone number got cut off. Our sincere apologies and we wish you the best of luck in the future.
