The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Great course
The greens were in great shape. The staff was very helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this course.
Great Executive Course
Great Layout, tough for being a short course, alot of blind shots that are near water hazards so be careful. Will play this again anytime.
Great as always
This is my "go to" course when I have a short window. Plays like a par 70 but you can play it in 3 hours. Hilly fairways...challenging greens...lots of water...great course for all levels of players. Check it out. You won't be disappointed
Good warmup round for down here
Interesting executive layout and I birdied the 18th so reason enough to return. Good place to knock the rust off plus get used to the speed of the greens down here knowing they can and will get much faster. Also the rough is different by a mile than in PA so that was good to adjust there as well. Enough challenge when you do not really know the course and you can score on the short par 4s there and get really pressed for par on the par 3s with all of the undulating greens. Might have to make this my first round destination every time we are down here. Enjoy!
Great day of golf!
All of the staff were so friendly and helpful! The course was fun and we got out early. The rain held off and we had a great golfing experience. Hope to play again soon.
This course has some good features and some not so good
Course is short. Too many pat 3’s
Greens are in next to perfect conditions but fairways and cart paths need work
Nice course
Course was in great shape. Very nice executive course.
Quick Saturday golf
A short but very challenging course. Must be accurate. Greens in fairly good shape, slightly slow due to dry conditions and less frequent mowing. Played from white tees.
Groves greens groove
Had great time golfing at Groves at the meadows yesterday, #grovesgroove#sarasotamoves
Vacation golf
Decided to golf on a whim while on vacation. Rental clubs were great and staff was wonderful. Greens were slow and mildly disappointing but course is short and challenging. Great place to work on approach shots and short game. Lots of baby gators and other beautiful landscapes and wildlife.
Fine afternoon in The Groves.
I enjoyed my afternoon. Playing in the Groves. Course was in good condition for a public course player like myself.
Greens were excellent, yet slow.
Fairways (or what I saw of them) was good.
Staff was accommodating and friendly.
Plays like an executive course
It’s not an executive course but plays as if it is. Course is in ok condition for the price of the green fee. But greens divots and sand traps are never repaired by golfers. Pace is painfully slow.
Course in ok condition but greens are very poorly maintained and players just never fix divots
It is not an executive course but play as one. There is only one par 5 and could be a par 4 easily. It is ok for seniors Pace is painfully slow.
