Not bad for the $$$
Basically a scrub course, but it was in surprisingly good condition..Bare spots on the greens, and the fairways were a common thing. However, the greens rolled pretty good. Not bad for the $$$ spent.
Tight Course, easy access
The Rolling Green Golf Course is a nice Florida course with narrow fairways in places and challenging water and bunkers. The course was a little dry in places but the green were true and speed challenging. Our greeting and engagement with staff was fun and entertaining as they clearly enjoyed their jobs and our presence.
Overpriced goat ranch
Greens were literally unputtable. Running At like a 4 on the stimpmeter. I stopped putting and just literally used this place as a $25 driving range session. Not worth it
Good deal
The greens are getting better each time we play there
Rolling Green has new potential.
This course was for years a fairly good, popular public golf course. Then it was sold and closed for most of a season. It reopened last year, but the upkeep was shoddy, and the course was barely playable. We decided to give it another chance, and there appearr to be signs that it could make a comeback. The tees are rough, but the fairways are starting to improve. The greens remain sketchy, but they are working on them. The issue for me is the course’s transitional phase from wide open to more distinct fairways and rough. They have let the grasses between fairways grow wild and uncut. The result is a lot of lost balls, and, I fear, the potential for very slow play once the season kicks in. I plan to give it another few weeks and try it again. Hopefully, the improvements continue.
It’s always a fun course to play
The greens are not in the best of shape. But it’s always fun to play there
Will not be back
Course had back 9 closed, so everyone had to play the front 9 twice and it was very slow. Course is in terrible shape and most of the greens are in really bad shape and not very good for putting. This is the third time I have been to this course and there were problems. It will be put on my DON’T PLAY list; even with GolfNOW!
Dear Robert,
Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for your experience. We happened to be over-seeding the back 9 tees & greens that day for improved course conditions this season. The grass is has grown in quickly and the change is quite dramatic. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about the improvements.

Needs work
The people were nice but three fairways hadn't been mowed in who knows how long. Many greens were in very poor condition as well.
Live off #9
Continue working the course
Getting better
Looking forward to dining room opening up late July
Summer Play
It had been awhile since I played this course. I was looking for a nice course, relaxing and a fair price. It exceeded my expectations. The course were a little wet and hot - normal for late June. I played again at this course during the week and plan for next week, too. Very satisfied.
Course in Limbo
First off the restaurant/snack bar is no longer open due to new management they stated that it might reopen but not sure when. Not sure if they are still taking care of the course as the greens and fairways seemed to be in rough shape. I Like the course but would never pay their rates in its condition.
So Poor
During the winter the last two years I have played this course with a group twice a week. The reason: price only. As many people know, the course was sold a year ago to a residential developer who hoped to start building homes by now; in fact, we have seen survey stakes for many months. For facts, about all they do is mow the grass, spread some sand on the greens, and irrigate a little. Most of the greens are beat up and covered with divots. Several tees are just dirt or sand. I don't blame the new owner; he doesn't want to run a golf course, he wants to build houses. For $5 or $10 more you can find a much better location using this site. Don't go; you won't be happy.
I am concerned
I have always really enjoyed Rolling Green, considering it the best value in Sarasota, and, as a golfer who needs forgiveness, I enjoyed the open fairways and dependable quality of the course. Things are not as they were. The course felt like it as under construction. The rough was wild, and not in an aesthetic way — just unkempt. The restaurant is closed, and the whole place seems to have taken a step down. I hope it rebounds, but I don’t plan to go back during this month is Sarasota.
Reasonable value for the money
No kitchen or food facilities; which was very disappointing.
Rental clubs were reasonable quality, but in poor condition.
Would play again.
Friendly staff good layout
The staff was wonderful, the golf course is a good layout. The course is pretty dry and greens are hard, but due to lack of rain hard to fault the course. However, the pace of play was crawling. At one time I saw two holes open two groups ahead. Only possible ranger I saw on the course was carrying a ball retriever driving the bushes looking for balls. The pro shop seemed void of merchandise,
Dear Smunger,
Thank you for your feedback. The greens and tees have grown in quickly since you played recently. Yesterday we double-cut all the greens for the first time since over-seeding. The plan is to bring in equipment to target cut more of the long grass that is in play. Also, new carts will be arriving in December. Hope to see you again soon!
