Interesting concept--VERY BAD IDEA!
Regular golf and foot golf on the same course---a VERY BAD IDEA!! To begin, the car paths are better suited for four wheeling! Regular golf and Foot Golf fairways intersected in places and on the 7th hole, there were twelve people going twelve different directions. Foot golfers just seemed to hang around, oblivious to regular golfers trying to hit. Too many flags and at times, the foot golfers were shooting at the regular golf greens. Greens and fairways were in really bad condition and tee markers not easily seen. Several times teeing off, we had soccer balls rolling onto the tee box, Lots of trash on the edges of the fairways, so as we played, we also picked up litter. Best part of "playing" out there was watching aircraft fly over. If the First Tee kids are learning to play here, they will be able to play anywhere. Commendable effort by the city to provide recreation activities for residents, but make a decision on regular golf or foot golf and invest in it completely or not at all.
Fun little course
So I played hooky from work and took my partner who had never played golf before. The pace was slow but since it was the middle of the day, that was fine. What a wonderful little course. 18 holes played in about 3 1/2 hours, just the two of us. I will be going back.
Absolutely awful
Im not sure why this is being offered in golfnow.com as an 18 hole. Its more like a training center. No par 5 at all, no cart path at all. You can often see the conditions of the course by looking at the pro shop...which is a mobile townhome. This not even a 3 star course. Seriously, do not go there
Cute diversion - could be a better experience
This could be a great course -- with some effort.
The course shares a kick-ball course and there are flags pins everywhere -- which confused me on hole 1. The score card offers no diagrams of the holes. This is confusing until you play 9 holes and learn the course. Personally, I don't like the kick-ball course. I don't remember Harvey writing about it in his little red book.
The natural beauty of huge Texas Pecan trees and wild areas bounding the fairways could make this an excellent course, with a little imagination and cash to implement a links-style design.
The greens are good, and roll true. There was some damage by the wildlife that is abundant in the area. I was disappointed to have to repair dozens of ball marks on the greens -- Come on players - fix your divots.
Overall, I enjoyed the round and will return to play again. Great place to work on your 3-par skills. And though the course is short -- it is a good challenge for any player.
I also like that you can donate your unused golf equipment for the First Tee program, which meets at the course.
Coures just to busy
the course was to busy with way to many flags it was my first time playing the course now that they have added soccer golf and it just had way too many flags on the course.. it took me a couple on holes to catch on to what all the flags was all about.
This course has too many distractions
I went to play today for the 12:50 Tee time and I was paired up with another pair. There were too many "Foot Golfers" (playing golf with a soccer ball) in front of us and they were just staying there. We managed to go along with them for few holes and then there were no foot golfers. During the back-nine (this is a 9 hole course) there were a group of about 18 middle school kids playing. And each hole took us about half an hour of wait. I understand this is a good course for beginners like me but it is too crowded sometimes.
Good 9 hole course
This course is right next to the YMCA and seems to be geared towards getting kids started with golf. Each hole had a "kid" tee with special holes just for them. The pace of play was nice, and 90% of the greens are in good shape. There are only a couple holes that you can use your driver. The rest are about 150ish yards. For a nominal $17 for a weekend morning tee time, I would play this course again.
Staff's unfriendly attitude
My partner and I played using a GolfNow "Hot Deal", with a Thursday 10:18 tee time. Arrived an hour early to warm up on their practice range. However, the free range balls promised by the GolfNow confirmation were denied. Attendant said something about GolfNow not being willing to remove the part about range balls being included in the deal. So we putted on the practice green for awhile, but seeing no other players arriving to play I politely asked the attendant if we could go ahead and start play. He gruffly said no, that he would give us a 10-minute call when it was time. He seemed to clearly resent us playing on the deeply discounted green fee, and was going to make us adhere strictly to the terms of the deal, even though there would clearly be no inconvenience to anyone with us going ahead. This course is owned and operated by the First Tee program, primarily for the benefit of the youth of the community. But we were playing mid-morning on a school day when there obviously were no kids around, just a few seniors like ourselves. You would think the course would appreciate any revenue they could get and not begrudge those playing with the GolfNow discount, but that was definitely not so. We will not be going back.
Great course for Beginners
This course is great for beginners. You can play the whole thing with your 7iron-wedges.
Great value for those trying to better their game
$10 for range balls, a cart and 18 holes
Not sure if there is a better deal out there.
Great place to get in some valuable practice. I don't like to go to the range, but this deal on golfnow comes with the range balls and it forces me to practice and get better.
I highly recommend this course more than any other to the beginning golfer.
Soccer Golfers
It is a pretty course, but for much of the round I was waiting on soccergolfers running around on the fairways. The soccergolf course is laid out in the middle of the actual golf holes, and for a couple of the holes it really isn't an issue that there are soccer balls bouncing around. But come 5 6 and 7, I had to wait long periods of time on the tee box as the soccergolfers bounced their balls around. 7 is particularly atrocious as there are 3 like 3 soccergolf holes in the middle of where i want to land my tee shot.
I really think the issue wouldn't be too grave if the soccergolfers had a better respect for golf, and the etiquette of playing through. Instead, they bounce around the middle of the fairways and play through you from behind as you try to line up your birdie putts.
Have to admit though, soccer golf looks pretty fun to play.
foot golf
the only problem is the new foot golf course is combine along side the golf course now golfer has to wait for foot golfer to move. on the six hole it have two foot golf holes, the group that was infront or us took 5min before we could tee off on ths 6th.
Footgolf.
Ohh boy.. They really made a mistake at this place. Harvey Penick wouldn't approve of a footgolf course being put right in the middle of his 9 hole golf course. Don't play here if you want to have a nice round golf. Overpriced, bad green on #6 (has been for months), footgolfers walking in front of the green. Don't waste your time or money. Go to bluebonnet or shadow glen!
Great for the money
No secret that this isn't one of the nicer courses around. However, for the $10 deal for 18 holes, one of the best values if you're just looking to play. I figured it was better than buying a medium bucket of range balls and I got to play 18 holes! Not the greatest golf atmosphere either, but it really makes you realize that golf is still a fun game, no matter the course. If you're just looking to play a quick short round this is your place (only 3 par 4's - only 1 able to use driver). Only major downside is foot golf is also on the course - but like I said earlier, still a great place to go hit a ball around a little bit! Also a great place to work on irons and ball striking.
Foot Golf is not for the Golf Course
The overall course experience was okay, I have no complaints about the conditions of the course. However, the course has begun letting people play "foot golf" while there are still golfers present. We waited for well over 45min between two holes for a group of intoxicated, obnoxious "foot golfers" to kick around their soccer balls on the fairway and on the greens. It wouldn't have been a problem if any of them had known anything about course etiquette, but unfortunately these people weren't the sort who come back to actually play golf. The greens were pock marked with these people wearing soccer cleats on the green and taking divots out of the green when shooting for their own "foot golf" pin.
I gave it a couple of rounds before voicing my opinion, but this has become a recurring problem. For that reason, I will not be returning to this course, nor will I recommend it to others. Don't go here if you're looking for a relaxing outing of golf.
Good course
Golf course was nice good place to play I have always liked to play there course is challenging for a small business!
Good practice course
Pretty good nine hole layout. Good for practice, and new golfers. City needs to lawn maintenance . Plenty of lost balls to find if you are brave enough to look under the first few feet of underbrush.
Dissappointment
After looking up information on this course I was expecting much much more. When we arrived we noticed a lot of unmowed areas, rough patches of fairways, and horrible greens. We were greeted nicely and received great customer service. That was the only plus of the day. Otherwise the course is nothing close to what their online descriptions make out of it. I do not recommend to anyone unless you are trying to squeeze in an easy 9 holes.
Worst Round of Golf
Staff is unfriendly and rude. Course is way too easy. Greens badly need to be redone. I'd rather play a round at Butler or keep the $20.
Great little facility
It's a par 30 course with three par 4 holes. The course is beginner friendly, but does have several holes with forced carries that aren't easy for less skilled or physically weaker players. The course is surprisingly challenging for better players and has several holes that aren't easy pars.
