About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

The course was in great shape. Greens were just a bit long but definitely better than most we played.

Traditional old Country Club layout
They were working on alleviating stress on tee boxes putting multiple tees together. Greens fast and challenging. The day we played we had a little greenskeeper’s revenge with the most difficult pin placements on every green. But still had a blast. Challenging hole design where you had to think your way around. Great challenge for the cost,
The Greens were Great
Really enjoyed the course. Had not played since just after hurricane Michael had come through. At that point the fairways were still partially flooded. Apparently the course maintenance people have done a real good job getting them back in shape. It was thin in some locations, but I believe they had just over seeded recently. By far they had the best greens of the courses we had played in the area. They have some great contours and were fast they way I prefer.

Great course for the money
I played here two years ago. They have since done a lot of work to the course. Fairways still need some work but very playable the rest of the course was in good shape I love the layout. The Staff was very friendly. Definitely will be playing here again.

Great Bang for the Buck!
Played Shalimar Pointe for the first time today. The deal on GolfNow was too good to pass up. I read the reviews and they were spot on. Condition isn't at the same level of the higher options in the Destin/Sandestin area but it isn't $150+ either. And, they are working on it after a recent renovation.
This is a tough little track. You have to think your way around and driver isn't always the choice off the tee. Fairways are firm and fast. You get a lot of roll off the tee and then have to hit down pretty firmly on the ball to take a divot and get the ball up in the air. Greens are in great shape and firm. Be ready to take one less club and let it roll up unless you hit the ball high. If you miss the green, grab the 60 degree wedge as there are many cases where you're going to have to hit it high with spin to get anywhere near the hole.
Staff was very friendly. Food was a little on the high side for a public course. I think getting more competitive (burger under $10 as an example) would add even more to the value of the overall experience,

Course was in bad shape.
Staff was nice and helpful. Course was very dry and greens and fairways were hard. An older group played behind us and they were pushing us hard. We played the 9 holes in 1:40 and they sat behind us the whole time not sure if they were even putting though. Played at Ft Walton Beach Golf Club the day after and their course was in much better shape than Shalimar.

Fun Course
Just minutes from Destin. The staff were exceptionally friendly. The course was fun and not overly difficult, which was nice since I am a hacker. Highly recommend if staying in the Destin area.

Disappointed
Played this course back in July, recently renovated and was a good experience but course condition already seems worse. Staff not overly friendly, had to pay $20 plus for my wife to ride (never had to pay for her in the past). Won’t be playing here again, to many other choices that are happy to have you play and allow your wife to enjoy the day with you!

Best rates for quality in the county
Nice course in good condition with improvements in work. Only downfall was the slow greens.

Just Okay
The layout is interesting and the staff was nice. Free range for warm up. But the course condition was below average. Very slow greens. Not bad for a value course but I would say that it is a little overpriced for what you get.

Great place
Everything was in great shape. However, three of the greens (3, 4, an 5) had some damage from a hydraulic leak on the greens mower. It didn't affect the putting in anyway, it was just sad to see since they have worked so hard to renovate this course. It won't keep me from coming back though.

Greatly Improved Course
I hadn’t play this course in quite a while due to the terrible conditions prior to the renovations but the course has come a long ways since. The greens were nice overall challenging and rolled really well. The tee boxes are better but still could use some work like grading them a little more flat. I shouldn’t be standing on a hill to tee off.
Food and drinks were good but would like to see cart service added for weekend play. Pro shop has a good selection but over priced at MSRP. If MAP pricing is allowed by manufacturers I would implement that to help generate more sales imo.
Overall I was satisfied with everything and will def play there again!
