Shalimar Pointe Golf Club

Extremely friendly staff. Course was in excellent condition. Beautiful greens. Would recommend this course to anyone that is looking to not break the bank, but still enjoy a great round!

I was told a lot of money was put into the course for improvements. I could tell that an effort was put into the greens and some of the fairways. The other areas left you feeling like why are they charging 70 a round during prime times.

Was informed when we got there the course had recently been renovated. Course was great, greens were awesome as well. Everything was in great shape. Staff was very friendly as well. Will definitely come back.

Greens and tee boxes are nice. Greens are a little long but that makes sense since it just opened after it’s renovation. There’s nothing off the fairway on most holes. So at current, it requires precision. Fairways, beyond a few holes with irrigation healing in, are in great condition. Sand traps are full of great soft sand. I look forward to this course growing in and I hope it can survive and be taken care of to be another course to play in these parts! Good luck!

Shalimar Pointe has recently reopened after an extensive upgrading of the greens, fairways, and irrigation system. This is a picturesque and pleasantly challenging course that can be enjoyed by young and old. The staff are friendly and eager to help and assist players, and the refurbishment has made this course a real jewel in the Florida Panhandle. If you are visiting the Destin-Ft Walton Beach-Eglin/Hurlburt AFB area, don’t miss the opportunity to play this course—but be warned: if you do, you’ll be coming back again and again!!

I can’t give a full review because I only played the front 9 due to bad weather. I was liking the course except for some bare spots on the fairways. The green were in good shape and rolled true. I’m looking forward to going back and playing the full 18 holes in the near future.

They have done an EXCELLENT job changing the layout and flow of Shalimar Point—adding some key drain areas and removing trees that only previously mucked up play. Also filling up part of the “Grand Canyon” sand dune on the back nine par 5 made to playable. Great rebirth all around!

Shalimar Pointe Golf Club has re-opened to the public after extensive renovations, is in spectacular condition and a delight to play. Greens and aprons are without flaw; tee boxes flat and perfect; fairways are great and well maintained. The gentleman in the pro shop was helpful and there was friendly assistance at the bag drop area before and after our round.

Hot deal is running $50 to $60 + taxes/fees and is a fair price for this track.

We played on Friday, July 7th and it did not look all that busy but steady. No on course beverage service so stock up before heading out! Water coolers had cold fresh water on the course. You do make the turn at the club house and drink prices are fair with friendly service.

If you’ve played Shalimar before the renovation, you will notice only a few changes in the course, other than improved turf in the fairways/tee boxes, and of course the new greens. A couple hazards (bunkers/waste areas) have been reduced or otherwise converted into a water hazard, and a couple trees removed, making the fun factor even higher than it was before.

There is no GPS on the carts but plenty of yardage indicators on the course. There was signage indicating pin placement in the #1 position but no sheet provided. We would recommend including a pin placement graphic on the score card next revision and in the interim, provide a sheet to the player.

My brother and I are mid-handicappers and played from the green tee box. This course provided us with lots of challenges but because of conditioning, we could not blame our score on the course!

Although the weather was warm, we enjoyed lots of breezes off the bay.

We will return again soon and encourage those reading this review to do likewise!!

The new renovations to the course are very nice! Nice new portions of cart paths, carts seem new, greens in perfect shape, fairways healthier and club house freshly updated!

The course renovations are excellent. Greens are in great shape. It was very hot, but after 50 years of playing here in Fort Walton Beach area, I'm used to it. My only complaint is I wish they flattened the tee boxes on holes 11 and 15. All the other holes are nice and level.
