About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Golf Now -Greens
Is it my imagination or do Golf Now discounts always come with recently sanded/aerated greens?
Shalimar Pointe put in a lot of money to improving the course and especially the greens. I look forward to going back but I'll personally go check their greens before making a tee time. And this goes for every course I play in the future.
Ps, got lucky and birdied #1 from the white tees!

It’s ok but………
It’s ok but iif you are coming from Destin allow 20/30 minutes for traffic over the Ft. walton bridge. Finally there we entered the proshop and meet the nicest folks we’d meet all day. The local members we met were a pretty grumpy group .
Course was fair to midland, greens were cut for the hot weather but very bumpy, they needed rolled. lots of waste bunkers and odd hole layouts. No bay views, just house after house..
Snack bar layout is questionable. We had to wait 15 minutes at the counter due to the beverage cooler being blocked by a local ladies group members ordering lunch.
The green fees are in line for course and facility overall condition.

Great putting greens was a little slower then what i have on

Fantastic Renovations
Beautifully restored greens. It was well worth the wait. My only complaint was a storm blew up and only got to play nine holes. I can't wait to get back and play.

Great Course.
Great value for the money compared to other courses in the area. The greens are in great shape. I would’ve definitely spent more money at this course if they had a beverage cart.

Reopening
The course has been closed for more than a year because of renovations. The greens were in phenomenal shape but we’re mainly slow with the guess being they are being kept at a higher height to start out to keep them healthy. A lot of interesting holes that you need to think your way through. It’s a little tough to get to but could see making occasional trips to play because of the layout. Got done with several holes and thought I would like to play that one again.

Played on vacation
The Greens were the star of the show. Nice but very very very slow. Outside of that the course was a eye sore. Being closed for a year u would think the hype around the course it would have been beautiful. Everything else wasn’t great. Not a bad play if ur a high handicapper looking to just play. But if u got some game go to hidden creek, been in the area by far!

Renovated Course: Outstanding
I was blown away by the changes made to an already great design. Course was closed for a year to build new greens and new irrigation system while county reworked their stormwater runoff project. Lots of positive changes for a much more enjoyable round of golf. Greens are super! Some areas where sod was laid haven't completely filled in but get to drop out of seams for now. I loved the course before, but now I really, really love it!

Could not believe the difference in this course from the years past.
Best greens in Northwest Florida and beats all the high price Destin courses.

Great Layout/ Great Pace of Play
If you enjoy playing fast on a great track, this is for you! My group played in 3 1/2 hours with two walking! I’ve played here before, and the greens are better than ever. You could play this course everyday and not get tired of it! I understand they’re doing a major renovation/restoration and will be closed for a couple of months. I can’t wait to see/play the renovated course! This is one great layout!
On the mend
Tees, greens and bunkers were all in good shape. Fairways are in need of some work but if you keep it in play you’ll have a decent lie most of the time. Bermuda is still coming out with spring. It was an enjoyable round at a reasonable $35 rate , except for the group of 6 hackers that wouldn’t let anyone through on the back.

As other reviews indicate, the course needs some
work. Fairways are rough and have a lot of bare spots.
Greens were Ok. Not the best but sufficient.
Carts are getting old and driver seat had some upholstery missing a and foam exposed.
Not a bad track but in dire need of TLC.
Thank you for playing with us and providing the review. It's a fair review for a couple of reasons. This time of year is always difficult in this area transitioning from winter to spring. Grass has taken a good during the winter (this one colder than our average) with no chance to provide relief. The other is our infrastructure is old and need of attention. We start that in few more days with restoration project on the course. New irrigation, greens, and some tree and bunker work. We'll be closed about five months and very excited about the changes. Please try us again after we reopen in the fall.

Fairways need attention

My go-to Club ♣
Been playing for one year this month. Shalimar Point in is my go-to Club. It's priced well, the staff has got to know us... to bad for them lol , and the course is challenging and in great condition. I recommend that you take time to play a round!
Course in terrible shape
Course is in terrible shape. Fairways had little grass and there were sandy dirt patches everywhere. Greens were actually ok. I paid $50 for my round which was double what it’s worth. Very disappointed.

Great greens, moderately challenging
Greens and tee boxes are in excellent shape. Pace of play was good - finished in a little under 4 hours. Rates are in line with others in the area (except the much higher ones in Destin). Good value, good greens, great weather, good time.
