About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Fair value for the money
Greens will be better. Course layout was good. Friendly staff. I’d play here again.
Pretty disappointed
I play here every time I’m in town so probably the last 7 years and the greens are the worst I have ever seen them.... not sure why the course is in the condition it is because there were a lot of people playing but there definitely needs to be some major work done on greens...

Emerald Coast golf
The course is in very rough shape. Many patchy spots on greens and not much grass on fairways. I read other reviews that said the guy in the golf shop was not very friendly and rude. This young guy with a mustache was very helpful and friendly however. I will play agin when things improve.

Stay away from this dog track
Here’s the thing. You get out first. Greens haven’t been rolled in about a year. Most tee boxes are uneven. Fairways are in average shape. You go to make the turn and they’ve let off half of the parking lot off the back. 2 foursomes waiting to tee off! Go into pro shop... ask what’s up, why are there people going off the back? Says oh I should have had you go off the back first? What would that have solved? I still would be waiting on one to play. You book the first tee time of the AM to play quick. This was a waste of money. I could have got over the conditions if the course was properly managed but it’s a train wreck. Don’t play here if you expect any type of typical course management, a decently stocked pro shop, or an average course in general.

Terrible Shape
I have been here several times. Usually, it’s an ok place. This last time the course was terrible. Greens are the worst I have ever see. I am not exaggerating. It has gone down hill. Save your money and just go somewhere else.

Whole course to myself
Very enjoyable round of golf. Although the forecast had been for rain, it turned out sunny and warm day. Surprisingly the course was virtually empty. Not a soul behind me or in front of me. I was playing solo. My tee time was for 2 pm, but they let me start at 1:15.
The recent heavy rains apparently had taken the toll on the course, the fairways looked worn off on the edges, so did the green. But for me a good day.

Greens are in bad shape
Sand based course with no real fairway definition. The greens are the worst I've ever seen. They could be really good with some TLC over the next 2 years.

Disappointed
I've played this course in the past and really enjoyed it. The layout is nice and challenging. This time I was pretty disappointed in the course conditions. There were way to many bald spots in the fairways, almost like hitting every shot off dirt. The greens were fast but had too many bald spots as well. If they can get the grass back in good shape again, this can be a good course for the value, but as of now, I'd golf somewhere else.

Hidden Beauty
What an awesome layout...you might think you are playing a Pete Dye course. The course is a little run down; some bare spots on greens and fairways, but the layout is just too good to let the imperfections bother you. Every hole has it's own character and each are named (the grand canyon and treasure island) to name a few. My wife and I had a fantastic time, and the staff was excellent. We arrived early for a 12:30 tee time and the pro got us out early in front of a league. We will definitely be back next time we are in Destin.
