Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Fun course but rough grass cut too long
We had a very enjoyable round with two other local golfers - their sense of humour and fun approach overcame the over-long Bermuda grass rough (so long we couldn’t see/find the ball even though we knew where it landed). It had been very dry so some areas a bit burnt out, but a nice course and good layout.
pro shop staff needs improvement
Came here for Veterans Day. The course is very nice however, pro shop customer service needs improvement. Me and two other veterans came play on Veterans Day, were told we would only be able to play the back nine twice. The front nine was unplayable due to recent rains. We paid for 18 holes on an overcast day, and were only able to play 8 before it started pouring. When we asked for a rain check or a voucher for the nine we didn’t play, we were told “no, you knew what you were getting into”. Happy Veterans Day!
Nice course!
Everything was in great shape, which allowed me to enjoy my round with my best bud Joe, who just retired from Air Force after 32 years of service!

The layout is great
Been playing here the last three years when we come for vacation in November. I will be back , probably on this vacation I played here Monday and the course was in good shape. Greens were a little slow and tee boxes could use some grass but overall it was good. I would recommend if your looking for a good course without breaking the bank
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Rough is ridiculous
Overall course isn’t in good condition at all. Greens were ver good, fairways were average in the good spots and out right barren in most areas. The rough was entirely too deep. Miss the green by just a little and it could be a lost ball. Rough needs to be reduced as a pace of play issue. Get out of the middle of the fairway or miss the green and it takes forever to find your ball.
Second Time
Second time to play. Pay was slow due to people in front and desk sending to both front and back. Green seems to be struggling, but staff is excellent.
Love this course
Not too difficult, not too easy. Just about right for average golfers. Fairways and greens in really good shape. Will be coming back next year. Staff is awesome as well.
Best deal
Even with the drought conditions and still no rain in sight for the next 10 or more days, the course is green and plush. Rough is thick and oftentimes difficult to find your ball. Greens are fast but also slow going uphill. All in all, excellent performance.
In the rough!
If you are not in the fairway, finding your ball is a task based on the height of the grass!
Shalimar point golf club.
The staff at the pro shop was very friendly. He welcomed us to the course and being new to the course offered us advice on how to play the course and what to expect. He did warn us about the typical Florida saw grass in the rough that we would lose balls in…and he was correct in that statement.
They offered us complimentary range ball to loosen up before the round which I thought was a nice touch.
The course had open fairways which gave us some room for error off the tee box. The course layout didn’t hurt you with blind shots and hidden water hazards. The greens were in very playable condition and putted true for the most part. The only downfall was the rough the did make finding your ball a challenge. If it would have been cut to 1 1/2 inches instead of 3+ inches our balls would be easier to find and speed up play.
After we finished and pulled up to our vehicle to unload our clubs an attendant rushed over to help us which I thought was a nice touch. Eglin Air Force Base is nearby so we were entertained by F15’s, F16’s and F22’s flying overhead while we played. Except for the rough slowing us down it was a good experience and a great day to golf.
Nice course and good price
The course is tight, the greens were in great shape and the layout was fair. Try to stay on the fairway because the rough is brutal. The staff was friendly and the food at the grill was very good.
Good course. Little overpriced for the conditions
Nice layout, but conditions are not up to the dollar amount it costs for a tee time unless you get a deal.
Nice Course
Enjoyable course in good shape. Pace bogged down back nine some but not horrible. Reasonable priced in a high price area.
Florida Fall Golf
The cooler temps are settling in. It still will get into the low to mid 80's, but the humidity is below 50% making it a more comfortable time playing golf. The greens are perfect and fast. The fairways are perfect and plush. But the rough is thick, so keep the drives in the fairway.
Probably the same guys that got in our way the whole day - golf does NOT take 5 hours to play.
