Springfield Golf Club

After a booming drive on the first hole with a slight fade, my second shot came up just short but a soft bump and run left me a tap in for par. Heading to the second tee I played my drive up the left side and watched it trickle down to center fairway. I was delighted, shot the next ball just below the pin for an easy tap in. A routine fir and gir on 3 was spoiled by a pisspoor 3 putt. The gents I played with questioned my masculinity. Fortunately four played easier than their significant others and we arrived at 5 even par. This hole is the devils a-hole,but I slayed it with an up and down from the bunker to save par. A long and strong drive on 7, left a 6 iron into the back pinned green. Should of taken an 5. The false front and a two putt sent me to the difficult stretch of 7,8,9. Let’s just say par, bogie, double and then a quick stop at the snack shack for a half dozen cans of swing lube and a tasty hot dog. After drinking one and shot gunning two I bet may partner I could par the hole with a 7 iron. Needless to say when the friendly cart girl came by, he was on the hook for 6 more tasty beers. 11 -15 seem a little hazy, but there’s three circle and 1 square. I got sloppy on 16 and realized I could forget about the course record. After a bomb on 17, I played the left to right green like a fiddle and rolled to 18. Two great shots followed by two average putts brought me back to par. Darn this game is easy. Guess I will have to come back and try it again.

They WILL lose a star if they raise their price again!

Course is in great shape. Played in just under 4 hours.

I did not see a twosome waiting to hit because they were hidden behind a tree on the cart path instead of in the fairway.

I accidentally hit up on them.

Luckily I was in the center of the fairway and din't kill anybody.

As a member of the Springs course group I brought my family and friends to Springfield for a round. Course is in great shape. Everyone had fun and the staff was very pleasant. Not a cheap

Place to play but the course is in excellent shape. Try it if you haven’t played it yet.

The greens were fantastic. Went off a bit after 8 am in a foursome, we were down right at noon.

Best course that can be played publicly.

It’s obvious how much time has been spent on the course. With all the rain, course was great. Very welcoming

Yesterday there were 2,368 weeds on the course

Today just 2,367 so yes - they are going away!

They rate 4 1/2 stars but I gave them 5 stars because they provide free water bottles during Covid

I'd rather spend the extra $10 and play Ballantyne. Don't get me wrong - this is a nice course and a great layout, but $75? Not a chance.

Add to it that I played following some rain and while I knew the course would be saturated, but $75 to play cart path only and standing water in every fairway is ridiculous. Had I known that, I would've walked except for the fact it's about a quarter mile between each green and the next tee box.

Staff was great. Pace of play was good. But I can't get over the price. I wouldn't pay $75 in pristine conditions, let alone the ones we had.

Checked in with the always friendly Jim, and the rangers did a great job as we played 18 in less that 3 hours and 45 minutes. Aaron and his staff have done a phenomenal job getting the course back into tip top shape. Despite the recent wet weather, the course was relatively dry, and the fairways and greens look fantastic!

The course was fun to play from the blues. A good mix of long par 4s and easier par 3s. Not a ton of trouble except that some fairways are narrow and a few approach shots are over a natural area. A challenging layout but the course was in great condition ( even with almost 2 weeks of rain!). EXTREMELY friendly staff! We will be back!

Great course in good condition after a lot of rain. Club pro and staff are very friendly.

Greens are in good physical shape after no play for many weeks during COVID-19 but were clearly not cut/rolled on Memorial Day; were maybe rolling at an 8 on the stimp. Area around the greens was atrocious. Overgrown weeds, clumps of grass. Many areas within a few yds of the fairway just completely unkept. Not remotely worth the weekend rates until the clean up the areas around the greens. App won't let me upload photos but a most greens had so many clumps of the overgrown weeds/grass that even a chip from 10 ft off the green was nearly impossible.
