Springfield Golf Club

First course played in Charlotte area since moving from Western PA 06/01/2019. My son and I went upon a recommendation of a friend in the area and it was a great choice. The staff in the pro shop and outside were as nice as you would want. Course layout reminded us of the hills and trees in Pennsylvania, so we were right at home. Tees were a little thin and sandy, but we overlooked that since they were recently punched, This was for the good of the year to come. Great variety of holes. Greens were very well manicured with a little, but not overbearing, speed. Bunkers were very well placed, even though some washed out due to recent rain. That can be overlooked. But this course is definitely a keeper. What more do you want, length, strategy, great conditions for a public golf course, great rate to play. My son has indicated this will probably be his go to place to play, since he played college golf.

It’s just a good course. Very good and friendly staff. Smooth greens. Some teeing areas were converted with sand. That translates into repair / improvement. It’s all you want from the back tees. Solid challenge from the blues or whites, too. Check it out.

Once you’re away from the tee, the condition of this course is impressively good. The tee boxes however leave a lot to be desired this year. This is a great course and super layout which is still worth playing even now. Greens are running very fast and lots of breaks.

Super friendly staff! 2nd time I have played here in the past year and both times was treated like a member. Only 15 minutes or so from the CLT airport. Commute is easier than playing CLT area golf courses.

Been playing this course on and off since it opened nearly 20 years ago and other than decent greens the rest of the course is in really bad shape.

That wouldn’t be so bad but they charge $72 for the weekend and we had a early tee time and it took 5 hours.

This used to one of the premier daily fee tracks in the area but not anymore.

There are far better choices in the Charlotte metro area. Hopefully they’ll get it turned around but it has the look of “it is what is” now.

Pace of play slow. No rangers helping out. Starters not much help either

Greens are rolling great. Still a bit firm, very few pitch marks. Even when hitting wedges in. Rough recently had aeration done. Many spots were straight up dirt. Tee boxes on par 3’s could use some love. Fairways are lush and great to hit out of. If we get a few days of good rain, the course will be in great shape.

Great layout. Few rough tee boxes but other than that in great shape. I would recommend a yardage ap and paying attention to the layout or you drive yourself into to trouble. Pace of play was great. I’ll be back next time I am in the area.

Tale of two different 9s, the front nine tee boxes are terrible and mostly sand, the fairways are okay but the greens are sandy and lots of weeds . The front 9greens were fast and bumpy because of the condition.

The back 9- excellent condition. Great tee boxes and really good Greens. Would play the back twice before playing the front right now.

Great pace at a twilight round and we got all 18 in. Nice staff. Would play again but not at the rate during the day. Just not in good enough condition to justify the Saturday morning rates but worth it for evening rounds.

Challenging layout and great greens. The staff inside is very friendly and creates a great experience. That Head Pro and Super really know what they are doing!

Perfect weather so I had to play but I knew the course conditions would be slacking due to time of year and recent rain.

I estimate in another month Springfield should be great - Bermuda grass not yet ready.

Back 9 greens so much better than front 9 - quite odd.

Really had fun. The course was not quite in it’s prime but it was early. Will definitely return.

Greens probably rolling better than any public course in Charlotte. Starting to dry out, but crowded.
