Sandpiper Golf Club - Oaks/Lakes Course

palms, oaks, not worth the bother, first nine a total let down, second nine a different golf course, a day and night difference,
spoiled the visit, unfortunately won't return and definitely overpriced

Wife and I played here the first week of the year while vacationing in Saint Petersburg.
The facility is 27 holes, all three nines are similar in that fairways are generous, protected on occasion by fairway bunkers but little other problems. Greens are small in one dimension or another, either width or depth. Greens lack distinctive breaks making putting pretty simple. Condition of greens rise above that of the fairways, tees and bunkers.
We were able to play all three nines in under five hours on both occasions, the major reason we made a return visit.
We consider the facility worth the investment.

The only decent part of this course were the greens on one of the nines that we played. The rest of the golf course looked like it hasn't seen fertilizer for years. The rough was entirely crab grass and the fairways were average at best. When compared to other courses in the bradenton/tampa are the 35 dollar green fee was a joke. The only reason that this course could possibly be valued at that rate was because it had a range fully stocked with balls included in your green fee. If the range had grass on it this would be okay but it didn't. Thoroughly disappointed.

This course was in great shape and expertly managed. Only gave it four stars on course conditions because there were a few greens on the Oaks course under repair in spots. Otherwise, this was a superb course, from the Pro Shop employee, the Starter, to the girl behind the bar. It seemed like it would be real slow based on the number of cars in the parking lot and carts zooming around, but not so. I think the trick is the 27 hole course is broken into 9 hole chunks, which spreads out the bodies. Finished 18 holes in 2 hours and 20 minutes with two blow up holes. Great speed and I will definitely be back soon.

Player friendly, nice practice facility. Only negative aspect is the range was not open until 9 am, so if you have a tee time earlier than that you can't hit any balls to warm up.

A favourite with our group. We particularly like the Palms and the Lakes. Restaurant and bar are very good.

The greens were in bad condition, but everything else about the place was nice. Friendly staff, friendly members, great pace of play.

Great course with all the perks. Was very over seeded and needed mowing in fairways & tee boxes. Some greens were in poor shape as well.

Great pace of play & real value. Mostly wide open fareways. Will go back and play from the blues.

I liken this course too Apollo beach, it's a decent layout for 27 holes. The greens, fairways and t-boxes are in fair shape as well as the carts. The staff are great and very helpful. They have a driving range and nice size putting area, if you can get for $20 jump on it. I prefer the Oaks and Palms 9. The pace of play as always been good.

Decided to play a round and was surprised at all the par 4s and the staff was great. The course was a challenge for me

Played Palms and Lakes.. Very wet with all the rain FL has had. Greens were in great shape.. a few of the tees are getting bad.. overall for $25 a great value...

played 18 holes really liked course. Course was in good shape

Was a typical Florida day in June....hot. and humid. Pretty fairways and greens, but tee boxes needed to be mowed. Lightning cut my play short at the turn. I will go back.

Tee areas shagy. Fairways needed cut. Other than that course is ok for this time of year.

I've played there several times before and this is the worst I've ever seen it. On all three courses there was crabgrass on the greens. The fairways needed to be cut and weeded just not a good course to play right now.

Greens were in fair shape. Course was wide open no holdups. Fairways were an average shape. Good value for the money on golf now
