Awful greens
They just aerated (punched) the greens dumped copious amounts of sand on them. I was not forewarned about this on the website in which I booked the round on. Nor was I notified at check-in. The greens as is are simply not playable. Just call it a two-putt, pick up and go to the next hole. The rough is rough too. Seem to not be able to take care of the rough for some reason.
Course Conditions Improving for Summer
The course has a few greens needing TLC but overall a fun course to play. I enjoy the free balls on the range to warm up.
needs work
shoddy tee boxes, and first few holes had greens in trrible condition.
Land mine greens
The palms looked like land mines went off all over. When we tried going to different nine we were told no for no good reason. The Lakes was wide open. They really need to shut down the Palms and work on the greens. The Oaks as well had a few greens just as bad. No excuse for the ranger to not accommodate us by letting play the Lakes. We just packed in and went home. They will not be seeing me around for awhile. If you can book a TEE time for around $10.00 I guess it would be worth it. Other than that, I would pass.
layout with challenging courses in good condition
definitely play here again especially for the price
You get what you pay for
Golf - 3 nines all pretty similar. Tee boxes and fairways a little shabby, greens were in excellent shape. Hey, for $25 it's a good deal. Don't pay a whole lot more!
Facilities - The Sandpiper Grille and Bunkers (like a grille room) are both very nice. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff make the end of round experience worth staying.
Greens
The first green on oaks was AWFUL and i was a bit worried. The rest of the greens on oaks/lakes were in great condition. The dairways were nice other than a few spots here and there.
slow greens
Nice layout. Fairways have some weeds and the tees are hairy. Greens are smooth but slower than I like. Friendly staff and a good deal for the money.
Course condition
The course was in bad condition from the fairway to even worse greens. The fairways had not been cut and even some tee boxes
conditions of greens
Loved the free golfballs on the driving range. The #1 green on the palms was not good but the rest of the course was great.
Good bang for the buck.
Greens are s little to slow for my liking, but overall for a course that gets alot of play, it was worth the the time to play this nice little course.
Sandpiper at Sun City Center
Sandpiper, the sister course to Club Renaissance at Sun City Center, is a well-run facility with 3 separate nine hole courses, each with their own personality. Driving range, putting green and greens in excellent condition. Fairways a little un-manicured, but playable.
Very good value for the price, especially through Golf Now (of course, no pun intended). Playing the big sister course, Club Renaissance, is a must play.
Given the Choice You Might Enjoy Elsewhere
While the greens here are generally in very good condition, the rest of the course is tired. Fairways filled with weeds. I'd guess that conditrions have been a function of the past droughts and maybe limited financial resources. The original developer would have done all a favor by planting trees to create shade. I'd play somewhere else given the choice.
Course Conditions
The worst course that I have ever played in the Tampa area. Weeds everywhere. Poa annual flowering in the greens. Tee boxes that, but for the markers,
are indistinguishable. Maybe the prices are okay but I've played others similarly priced in the area that are in way better shape.
like the courses
Have played here on and off for the past 5 years and the course was in better shape a few years back. Around the greens are not as plush as they used to be.The fairways are not as nice either.Hope they can get it back to the shape it use to be.
to courses.
Challengeing holes, friendly staff. The pace on the Palm course was slow with no ranger to address the issue.
Best Of the bests
We play every weekend and always we try to play in different courses just to know diferent courses and options to play and improve our golf skills; this Is one Of the best courses we ever played, quality of tees, fairways and green are excellent, also the installatiion and facilities are clean and very well manteined. Personel and staff are friendly and resolve anything promptly and with a smile in their face. I recomended this course always
Just OK
Played the Oaks/Palms. First green on Oaks needs help but rest of greens OK. Lots of chickweed in fairways and rough can be "rough". A little surprised at condition given Club Link involvement. Layout and challenge are there and overall experience is fine but Club Link have work to do. Would only play again if improved and/or real deal on green fees. Staff overall are nice and helpful.
