About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
The Hooch Golf Club sits along the Chattahoochee River in Duluth, sprawling across a scenic landscape covered with ponds and lakes. The course is an executive, par-61 layout that combines traditional features with modern challenges. Although there aren't any par 5s on the golf course there are a few holes that stretch to over 400 yards, which guarantees that you'll be using all the clubs in your bag. There is plenty of water throughout the golf course, including three holes that play right along the river. It might not be what you're looking for if you want something truly formidable, but for a short course it's a good challenge that provides excellent iron practice. Besides the golf course, The Hooch is also known for its 12-acre, lighted driving range. There are also putting and chipping greens with a deep-faced practice bunker.

Best shape in years
The Hooch is in better shape than it has been in years. Greens are true although slow, and the fairways are lush and firm. The greens may not be challenging, but hazards are well placed and challenge every skill level.
Highly recommended.
Fun course
This course is ideal for working on your short game. You need to be able to control your tee shots on the par 4 holes otherwise you will encounter some trouble. Greens are in good shape, but they are slow. Accuracy is a must on this course layout. Enjoyed the round and played 18 holes in 2hrs 45 minutes.
Great Short Game Practice
It always seem to be hit and miss with the greens at The Hooch and while I have seen them much worse than they are now they were a bit furry. I am sure the heat and lack of rain is a part of that so maybe there isn't anything that could be done. Several of the tee boxes could use some leveling. We got around in a little less than three hours so that was nice. All in all a great course to play mid week for a tune up before playing the weekend.
Excellent for quick play
I play this course 3 or 4 times a month with my wife. The course is maintained well with plenty of water hazards and sand. The greens are OK but not very challenging. The staff is real friendly. Hooch is a great place to get in some golf when you don't have the time to play a 72 course. I have played 18 by myself in under 2 1/2 hours. Although a short course there is 6 holes that you can break out your driver. I highly recommend for beginners or to practice your short irons. BTW You can't beat the replay price last weekend I went around again for under $5.
Fun day
If you want a 3 hour round to work on your game and have some fun, The Hooch is a great place for that.
great quick prastice round
Nice course to check out your short game. Some spots on the greens but role was good if you did not have to go over a bad spot.
Friday Afternoon
Great course to play with intermediate golfers. You will get some real iron work. Greens are under repair and will be ready for the summer.
Great course for the price
Great course for a last minute or round that needs to be quick. My favorite for a quick practice round.
Hooch1
Good course to work on mid and short irons
Low fees fun time!
Amazing only 3 minutes from the office but never played it. It's cozy pleasant and challenges but doesn't over extend you. Will go weekly see ya there.. Look for a lefty
Payed for 18 but the back 9 was closed
I have played here several times and for the $$ its a great value. Yesterday i played with a friend, and was told the back nine was closed for "Spraying" and may or may not be open by the time we turn. The back nine was not open and we were sent back out on #1 with god knows how many groups in front of us. I play this course because it has practice facilities and is very inexpensive, but i still expect to get what i paid for!
Short game practice
Great course to work your short game, will be back again.
Slop golf at the Hooch
The one fit day for golf and my son and I decided a quick 18 at the Hooch in the middle of the day would be a nice way to spend part of his birthday. We got a tee time and showed up early, hit some warm up balls, got the cart and were informed only the back nine was open, they were "spraying" the front nine. This was not disclosed ahead of time or we would never have gone there. The starter said to check back after first nine played to see if front was open. After we played 9 we saw a huge crowd back on #10 - as everyone finishing and just starting was now trying to tee off. We went back and informed the starter who replied, sorry, front nine is closed, nothing I can do... So we waited maybe 45 minutes to tee off and took over 5 hours to play this "executive course" Poor management... Course is built on a river flood plain, was sloppy wet, and greens are getting very rough. Won't go back again even though course is only 2 miles from home.
GOOD FEATURES
THEY ARE SPENDING MONEY ON IMPROVEMENTS AND IT SHOWS CART PATHS WERE EXCELLENT
GOOD JOB
Enjoyable
Really enjoy playing this course. Course is in very good shape except for a few greens.
Rating
Fun to play. Good course for beginners and retitees. Well maintained. Staff friendly. Good practice areas. New car path resurfacing adds to enjoyment. Greens on holes 1,11 12, and 15 need work. Players need to repair ball marks better so that greens don't become unuseable.
Great Golf in less than 3 Hours
Play the Hooch if you don't want to spend the entire day golfing. You can usually get done in less than 3 hours and have all the challenges of a "regulation" golf course. If not busy, it's possible to get done closer to 2 hours in a cart and it's not 'cart path only'.
Aerification Was in Progress
I booked my tee time online. The website did not have an Aerification notice. When I arrived, the front nine was closed, the back nine was open, and aerification was in progress. So, I had to play the back nine twice, despite the condition.
This course, in the past, is usually in good shape.
Great course for brushing up on the game!
Nice course, friendly staff, great value! I have played with groups and as an individual, both are enjoyable.
