About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
The Hooch Golf Club sits along the Chattahoochee River in Duluth, sprawling across a scenic landscape covered with ponds and lakes. The course is an executive, par-61 layout that combines traditional features with modern challenges. Although there aren't any par 5s on the golf course there are a few holes that stretch to over 400 yards, which guarantees that you'll be using all the clubs in your bag. There is plenty of water throughout the golf course, including three holes that play right along the river. It might not be what you're looking for if you want something truly formidable, but for a short course it's a good challenge that provides excellent iron practice. Besides the golf course, The Hooch is also known for its 12-acre, lighted driving range. There are also putting and chipping greens with a deep-faced practice bunker.

First Time at The Hooch
This is a great course for a quick round. The course is very very but still challenging.
Fun at the course!
Enjoyed the day at The Hooch Golf Course!
Great deal for the money!
This course had no great features
Will never go bk to this course again they charge too much and not trendily people at all and wouldn't let me take my very small cooler with warter in it but allowed they guy I played with too have his honestly they are full of it out there most courses I go to have collets on the cart not a good for me at all and the course was very backed up for the Marshall to tell me he just doin his job but not very good at it.
Convenient and well priced
This is my go to course when I just get an urge to play a round. Course is well kept. The only thing is that other players need to repair their ball marks to help keep the greens up, which are normally in great shape.
Great for an Afternoon of Fun
Fairly easy course with some short Par 3's and 4's. Great for a relaxing afternoon if you don't take your game to seriously.
great value
Great short course with nice combo of holes and required skilll levels. Lots of fun
Surprisingly in great shape
We were very surprised at the conditions. As good or better as any full-sized course we've played in North Georgia in quite a while.
Correct the distance
Very nice course however, the distance was consistently wrong on the score card and need sand on carts to repair divots. I'll be back!
Pace of play suffered
First time to the Hooch and I will definitely be back....just not on a Thursday. The women's league starts at 9 am or so and the pace of play behind them suffered as a result. I also had a foursome of older gentlemen in front of us and they took their time...took at least two off the tee every time...and all for of them did that!
I was paired with a local member and he assured me that pace of play Monday-Wednesday is normal. He did say the weekends get quite congested.
Conditions of the course were just fine. Greens rolled true and bunkers were in good shape. Fairways in good shape as well.
Bombers need not even pull out the driver. I had 50-60 yards in on every par four. I will use hybrid off the tee next time around. I need the work...
I plan on bringing my wife next time I play. I noticed several couples playing. It is definitely a beginners friendly course. And great prices can be found online.
Very nice course and practice facilities
First time playing this course and it was really nice. Greens rolled good and the fairways were well maintained. It is Short course but they do offer replay rounds for $15. I was also surprised by the great practice facility they have. All grass driving range, putting green and chipping green with sand trap. They also had some great deals on range cards. I will definitely be back.
Hole 12 is the only hole you can actually see the river from and you have to walk back behind the tee boxes to see it. Plenty of shade to help out on those hot days too.
Awful customer service for a subpar course
The staff acts like this is the nicest golf course in America even though its not very good. The greens are not bad, the fairways are average, the tee boxes need help, and the cart paths need to be redone. Unless you need help with par 3s do not go here. It would be a total waste of time and money.
Great deal for last minute
This location gets a lot of traffic, I was very surprised at how good the greens and fairways are kept.
Great executive course
Course is well kept. The holes offer good challenges to keep you honest.
Great short course
Played the Hooch for the first time with my son who is a beginner. Terrific place for him to practice without the demands of a full size course. Lots of iron opportunities for him of all lengths. For a better golfer a great place to work on your approach shots and short game. Greens in better than average condition. Most fairways also nice but found a few rough patches. Overall a very nice 3 hour round. Will definitely take my son again.
Good shape. Super short course
Play from the blue tees, even if you're a three week old baby with short arms. The white tees make you hit mostly half wedges and pitch shots into the greens. That being said, the course is in pretty good shape for an executive course in Duluth. The greens are well kept and roll mostly true, with a delicate softness like a hug from your favorite high school gym teacher...wait. Grandma.
Anyway it's a little overpriced for what it is (par 61) but it's not bad if you're looking to kick back and enjoy a short round. The staff here is horrible though, they act like they're the owners of Augusta national or something. They could DEFINITELY be nicer for what their course is. The course is pretty good, but once you get past the blue-blood wannabes at the counter and first tee it becomes fun again, like golf should be.
Nice course for quick round.
This is a good course for a quick round. The fairways are soft and the greens fairly fast. Both are kept in good condition. Many people started playing after 5pm because they can get the round in before dark
The Hooch, baby!
Was in town because wife was in hospital.. She shooed me away to play golf. Really, she did! Went to GolfNow and when I saw the name, I had to play it. The description was a little misleading, as not once did I see the river, but still had a good time. Got paired up with a clown. Literally. That was his day job. Course was fun, some tough ones, some easy ones. Played well but couldn't get a birdie to fall even though I was on almost every green in regulation. Greens in good condition, fairways excellent.
Challenging Executive course
You can't find a better course for the price. Challenging holes and well kept. Hole 14 is the toughest par-3 that we've ever played if hitting from the Blue tees. Our only negative comment for the course is that they could add a small "information sign" on a post at each hole. Distance information would be VERY helpful on holes #5 and #11 and #14 and #16 .... each has water or high ground cover that needs to be addressed in order to plan your next shot on the hole. Other than that, it is a great executive course.
Not too shabby
This course is short, but tight in certain spots. There are hidden hazards that make this course a little challenging if you have never played before. It requires set-up shots that make you think a little more on your approach to certain holes. The distances were not accurate on the card which caused a few issues, but as long as you pay attention to the yardage blocks on the tee boxes themselves, you should be fine. The greens were in pretty good shape. The clubhouse was OK with snacks, a coke fountain machine and free slushy ice (my fave). The hotdogs looked inedible. Pace was great considering we were playing with 2 very newbie girls - just over 3 hours. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would definitely go back.
Nice exec course
This was the second time I've played this course recently. It's in good shape and has some interesting holes for a short course. The pace of play could be faster - they needed to chase a couple of groups ahead of us as the whole idea of a course like this is to get in a quick round (and not a near four hour round). There are quite a few slobs that don't repair ball marks in the greens that play here too - a pity as the greens are reasonably well kept.
