A challenging course, but the conditions of the fairways is sub-par. We have had a hot dry spell, but this goes beyond stress.
Better Condition than in March
It's Olde Lib....you should know what you are getting into....this isn't Pinehurst #2! The greens were very good but a bit slow. There is a "reasonable" amount of grass in the fairways. The bunkers are GUR. You can usually play in 3 hrs during the week. Go out and enjoy the day/round.......$30 max.
Need an overhaul
One of the best layout courses unfortunately marred with bad customer service. Had a tee time on Sunday morning and the golf club attendant did not show up until 8:00am …. People with tee times at 6:45am and on were standing outside the pro shop waiting for it to open.
FSC needs to take a hard look in the mirror and figure out how to turn this around.
Better than Advertised
Based on the reviews, I was hesitant, but it’s overall a really good value for the money. Layout is really cool, and I enjoyed my round. The greens and tee boxes were actually in really solid shape. The course was incredibly firm, and the place this course suffers is in the fairways. For the most part they were fine, but there were instances where it was just clay and you can lose a lot of golf balls that should be in the fairway because of how hard the non-grassy fairway bounces. But overall, enjoyed the round.
Nice layout- Very poor conditions
Course was in very rough shape and some holes frankly were not playable. This course needs a ton of work to be called a golf course.
Rough, but fun
Oh, it’s in real bad shape - but has potential.
bunkers are 0/10
Challenging Layout
The course has many holes that are unique and well designed! The staff is very congenial and helpful. For what your inexpensive fees you pay, don't expect a well manicured golf course. Just have fun and enjoy your round of golf.
Dump / Garbage / Trash
Just like the title says. An absolute joke of a golf course. All bunkers were clay. Fairways looked like cow pastures (that’s a compliment). Range balls don’t even deserve to be played out here. I’m no sophisticated golfer but do enjoy a reasonable price to play at a decent course. Everything from the worn out carts, the club house, and the fairways was a joke. Have played at other Fred Smith courses and this one looks like the red headed step child. Save your $40 and play literally anywhere else.
Golfing in Downtown Baghdad
This is literally the worse maintained golf course I have ever been on. It looks more like a bomb testing range instead of a course. The only grass they have looks like grass from a cow pasture. The carts are absolutely terrible. We had 6 carts pass us at the first tee box to go and tee off. Which made the pace of play terrible. You have a better chance of winning the power ball instead of landing on a playable lie. I have seen better grass growing during my deployment to Afghanistan than this course. If this was the only course available I would give up golf forever. I thought all the reviews were probably probably over exaggerated, but no the reviews didn't do it justice. Also the club house looks like a field office I worked in while working for the Department of Transportation. Save your 50 dollars and waste it on some scratch off tickets. The fairways look like they were cut with a murray mower from walmart. I am a budget golfer and play a lot of blue collar courses, but this place is terrible. The greens were pretty decent.
Love the course layout!!
The course has so much potential, the layout is fun and challenging. The course needs some real help condition wise.. Fred Smith Co. owns this course but doesn't seem to want to put money in it for some reason?...the course is in a good location, the course has steady customers...not entirely sure why they won't give the course some help..I would be a member at Olde Liberty Golf Course if it were in better playing condition.
Slow pace
Enjoyed the 9 holes of golf I played. Paired up with a nice person but pace of play was so slow, I could not complete 18 holes. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens could use some attention but it was good enough to play on.
Course for beginners and people just messing around.
Greens are in pretty good shape. Fairway grass was thin and dry, and a lot of spots with no grass at all. Tee boxes were fair, could use some work for sure. I would only recommend this course to people very new to the game or people just looking for a place to mess around. I payed $35 to play, but I’d say it’s worth $20, $25 max.
