Great Time
Uber-early (5:38) round. Paired up with three others; got around in about two hours. Behind threesome who were slow, but not so slow it was an issue. Weather has left course in nearly top condition. Anthills in bunkers, but other than that course really played well.
Sydney Marovitz Chicago
Course was in fairly good shape. The pace of play was extremely slow with many people walking instead of riding. Very difficult to book tee times on their website. The website shows no available tee times; however, you can find times on booking sites such as GolfNow.
Good day at Marovitz
It's a gem on the lakefront in Chicago. A bit chilly and windy but the pace of play was pretty good and the course was in pretty good condition. There were 4 groups ahead of us that were all together and they played reasonably quickly for hungover guys in town for a bachelor party. The staff had them play a scramble after a couple of holes to quicken the pace. All in all a great day at Marovitz.
Offensively Slow
I would like to preface this review by saying that I am the furthest thing from a golf snob. I am perfectly fine with waiting on tee boxes and having players of all skill levels enjoy a day on the course. That being said, on Saturday, I was stuck behind a group of 4 people sharing two sets of clubs and giving/getting lessons after every shot of 5-10 yards. Not only were they hitting the ball directly sideways sometimes, they were also finishing every hole out and sometimes even hitting multiple shots. After ~30-40 minutes on a 130 yard Par 3, I finally called the Pro Shop after three full groups had caught up and were waiting on the tee box. In the course’s defense, they sent a ranger out to speak to them, but the pace did not improve. Every member of my group decided to go home after 3 holes because it was too infuriating waiting for them to record a 30 on every hole.
Good course for the city
This is a good course for intro golfers or getting a quick round done with without going to the suburbs!
Playing in between Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive is beyond unbelievable!
It’s a good little 9 hole track.. convenient to anyone living near the lake.
Not terribly hard… greens can be challenging along with the wind, bunkers could use some sand … but for the price location and average conditions it’s more than worth it.
It’s public … so showing others that raking bunkers and fixing balls marks on the green is the proper etiquette of the greatest game played !!
