Tee shot on #8 par 3 Photo submitted by tmlo on 05/05/2013
Embarrassing
What was a great course and a lot of fun to play has turned into a goat ranch run by a bunch of cranky old guys who just jam people out for a 5 1/2 hour round of golf with no water on the course. The condition of the entire course has deteriorated with so little investment in fixing they might as well just shut it down and sell it for Real Estate.
Early bird got the worm
Friendly and welcoming staff in the morning
First ball out of the tee box for the day
Felt like I had the golf course to myself
Golf course was in really good shape
Greens were punched not too long ago and you couldn’t even tell
This could be a really nice course if they put some effort into it. Some Tee boxes are all sand and weeds. Cart paths are full of potholes. Our cart stopped on hole 13 back 9. Thankfully staff came right out with no issues.
On a positive note, the restaurant “The View” is very nice. Well priced food and beverages and a very friendly staff. Cris behind the bar and Manager Madison are always on point..
Dogleg Galore
Pros
Challenging layout
Very friendly staff
Pace of play
Cons
Greens were shaggy and hadn’t healed from being punched
Tee boxes and some areas around the course the grass was sparse
What happened to the champ course?
Colony, i have been playing your champ course for years! Always an extremely challenging track but the conditions of the course are the worst I have ever seen. I can tell the greens were punched a few weeks ago but they are coming back inconsistent and not well maintained. Some of the tee boxes are just sand! Not sure what’s going on but it will be a while until i consider returning.
Dog legs galore
Interesting layout. We came at a good time, snowbirds are gone. The greens had been air rated and they were slow and bumpy. Some of the tee boxes were sparse as were some of the area around the greens. No driving range and they do not cater to those making the turn by having food ready. Despite the cons I would play the course again.
Turrible
What was once a beautiful course has turned into a disappointing cow pasture. Sandy tee boxes, hard and unkept fairways, and patchy/weedy greens. I am convinced that the 4 and 5 star reviews lately are all bots. Clubhouse is nice though. They cared about that.
Avoid
You’ll pay $50 to hit off sandry tee boxes and putt on patchy, uneven greens. There are plenty of better courses for cheaper in the area. It’s criminal to call this a “Championship” course.
Not worth it
Not worth playing here. The greens are not taken care of very well, as there’s crabgrass and divots. there’s also pothole areas on the green. The fairways are a mess and the tee boxes are a disaster, full of sand and no real green area on the tee off boxes.
Sorry this course
This course is in a very bad shape!!
The fairways are bald, sandy and almost no grass
The sand bunkers in a horrible shape.
Over all I rate this course 4 out of 10
Don’t waste your money
There are many other courses in this area that are much better manicured for the same money.
I give it two thumbs down way down sorry!!
Packed In the Sandbox
Played the Champ course on a Saturday. They packed us in like sardines. Would have taken 5 hours, if we didn’t replay the front nine. Groundskeepers should be fired. Majority of the tee boxes are sand boxes. I’ve played the Glades Course at this location as well. Same thing there. It’s slightly better than that course. Staff are friendly, and it’s easy to get on. But be warned they stack you on top of each other.
