Golfer Reviews
Great layout but terrible condition
Champ course has a nice layout, but the conditions fell way below our expectations. Practice area and 1st tee box gives the impression that the course is well-kept, but it didn’t take long before that perception changed. One guy warned me that it was a goat track, and he wasn’t wrong. Greens weren’t smooth, potholes all over the cart paths, and “sand” traps were either hard or muddy depending on the hole. Didn’t see a beverage cart the entire round. Definitely won’t be back for a while.
Rude Staff
Booked on Golf Now for 1. Booking says cart included. That's only 1/2 a cart. Doesn't say 1/2 cart included. They said you have to pay another $65 to get your own cart. Seriously? With covid and everything, they're pairing me up ON A CART with a stranger. They said that's how golf works. I started a league from my business here, I'll probably be moving that. Rude employee said I'll loose my money if I cancel today. That's fine, they'll loose the 10 people once a week when I move my league somewhere else. They were soooo rude.
Great course, needs some signs
Our only real "complaint" is that using the address from Golf Now in your GPS gets you to the correct place, but there is no sign for the golf course from the road and the club house is in a new building that looks like a modern dentist office. There isn't much of a convenient bag drop (yet?)
We ended up being able to go out as a twosome ina single cart which was nice. Pace of play on a Monday morning was good.. Green could have been cut tighter,, but i was already shooting par by the time that matters LOL. We'll come back.
5 hour round on a sub-par course
First time ( and last time) Colony West. It has a nice layout, but we waited on every hole on a Thursday afternoon. Tee boxes were shoddy, most traps were mud and included water. Greens were OK, but not good, too many non-grass areas.
I will not return to Colony West.
Nice Layout but need maintenance
Layout is nice and somewhat challenging (lots of doglegs). Greens were in good conditions although slow.
Lack of grass around the greens and sand traps with water and not much sand.
Winter time in sunny south Florida. The tee boxes were in rough shape. The greens were in much better condition.
This was my 1st time playing there since they opened the new club house.. Very classy. The pace of play was tolerable especially since it was packed. That said, got a little chuckle when we had to wait for a mother and her daughter to walk across the fairway.
Great course, exceptional service
The only thing I would suggest is that a little more signage be put on the Champ course. We got lost a couple of times. other than that a beautiful course! The staff is always very accommodating and friendly! Patty is the best.
Interesting just getting into
Saturday tee time so expectations were set...hardest part was getting a way into the PRO SHOP...road signage and GOOGLE maps did not agree...once found check in a breeze, starter set me up with a cart and when my first partner showed up when I was on the putting green, saw fit to move all my pre set mounting, the RANGER put him in another group and thus penalized him for his outrageous lack of golf etiquette...teed off about 15 minutes late, on 7th hole, had the ranger stop by and ask us to play ready golf, where he was then advised we started late, and based on PGA standers of 15 mins for par 5, 14 mins for par 4, and 13 mins for par 3 we were actually AHEAD of time...turns out the penalized player was id'd as culprit...course was generic for FL at this time of year...too much play, not enough Ranger presence (cart driiven ON to and OFF tee boxes be group in front of us)...played a round in 4 hr and 20 minsi for a Sat)...greens were rolled and course in good shape overall...would just alert future golfers, to remember the day of the week when playing....by the time we finished, it looked like a tour bus just unloaded a group and folks waiting...Starter might need to be closer to first tee though...since the RANGER uses BOOKED tee times and not ACTUAL tee times...they are in the midst of some form of building (a hotel??) right where the PRO SHOP is...decent place for the monies...but remember, this IS FLORIDA during PRIME/HIGH season...so leave those HOME course expectations, if visiting, at home...LOL
Great lay out and character but tee boxes need work
Overall a challenging course and I would play again
