Wentworth Golf Club is routed through a scenic and varied landscape of woods and wetlands. At 6,459 yards, the golf course is relatively short but it offers a demanding, target-style layout. The course has narrow fairways and small greens that run fast. The front nine is routed through towering stands of cypress trees, pines, and mature oaks while the back nine has a more links-style layout that will test your shot-making skills. Water hazards come into play on several holes but the far more prominent features of the course are the massive bunkers that lurk beside the fairways and greens, ready to swallow even slightly errant shots. Careful strategy is required throughout the course in order to avoid losing balls. In addition to the challenging layout, Wentworth G.C. boasts superb conditions that are considered some of the area's best.

Sell The Course

I've never seen any course in this bad of shape. I've been playing this course for almost 20 years. It''s gone up and down but this is unacceptable. There is literally zero grass on the greens, the fairways are brown and not cut. They should stop charging the public to play and shut it down until it's at least respectable and owned by someone who cares. Very sad.

Cow pastures are nicer

I’ve played Wentworth many times, but playing today it seems like every bit of equipment they have to maintain the course must be broke down. I have never seen a course in such horrible conditions. Lost balls in the “fairways” due to overgrowth and pretty much just sand traps for greens. Spend your money anywhere but here.

This by far is the worst course in Tampa bay. Picture a course that has been abandoned for 3 months. Then try and play. This course should be shut down.

Better off donating money to the security guard at the front gate

Make sure to pack your portable lawnmower if you’re going to play here. The only good thing I got out of playing 5 holes on this course was the idea of how easily it could be turned into a zoo.

Safe to say the neighborhood pays the expenses of the course to keep people from coming back.

Don’t forget your range finder as you may be able to pin a family of gazelles in the “fairway.” These greens look like they lost a custody battle and just gave up on life. It’s not even golf anymore — it’s just putt-putt in a litter box.

Oh, and they sell range balls in the pro shop for $ 2.50 a ball.

Very Disappointing

This round was very disappointing. The course is in need of major repair. Fairways and rough not cut, greens did not roll. I am wondering if the hurricanes from last year damaged the course and they have been unable to recover. Truly a shame as the layout is good with small greens that are well bunkered.

Atrocious

By far the worst course I have ever played. Incredibly rude staff, course conditions were comparable to a cow pasture and that’s being generous. Greens were Browns. They’re milking it for all it’s worth to entice people to buy homes. Do not waste your money.

Past its prime

This course looks like it may have been a premiere course long long ago. The front 9 is on par with other unkept swamp courses here in close proximity. Definitely overgrown. Tee boxes are not good at all. The back 9 is better kept. I’d play the bank 9 here again but not the front 9. Back 9 greens are better than the front. Course layout is excellent. So sad to see a course that could be so beautiful showing signs of degradation.
