Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Great course
Very nice course. We loved it. Great condition. Great holes. Good value. Already one of our favorites around town. Not the easiest course but very fun anyways. Doesn't have to be easy to be fun.
Great Value
Played today and was pleasantly surprised. The course has gone through some financial difficulties recently but, it has come through it and is better than ever.
The price is great and the conditions wonderful despite very little rain and their money problems. In addition, nobody is out there. It was one of those dream rounds (3 hrs) on a beautiful course.
Bravo Temple Terrace.
A course for members and better players
This is a very tight course. Immediately surrounding that tightness is roads. Busy neighborhood roads right against the course. I'm talking a constant flow of cars and people walking, etc. A powerfully hit slice or hook is going towards a house, car, or person. This course is for a higher skill level or elderly people that don't have power behind their shot. My main issue with my round however was that there was a members league going on. There was no mention of this on golf now. For all I knew I was showing up to play 18 holes of golf. For my 4pm tee time it turns out I had to start on 2, play until 5:10, skip ahead to 10, then after I finished 18 go back to 10 and could make up the remaining balance of my 18 by playing back nine holes again.. OK.. not exactly a smooth relaxing 18 holes of golf.
Great Golf for the Price
Temple Terrace is a well established course with some of the best green conditions in Central Florida, Course is pretty straight forward with exceptions on several holes including 16,17, and 18 when you get a real feel for being somewhere other than flat Florida.
Greens in descent shape but fairways are in bad shape!!!
Wouldn’t play again.
Fast Greens
The greens were really fast and not grainy like a lot of bermuda greens. It is a very old course, par 3s are not easy. Not a lot of grass in fairways. A lot of roads run parallel to a lot of the holes.
Single with speed
Greens in great condition for the time of year .fairways were just as high as the rough . Played at 8 am and was 50 degrees out so was a very fast round as a single. Finished in 2 1/2 hours . Overall 4 out 5 only because there was no rough to speak of but probably because of the time of year. Would go back
Enjoyable
The staff was very helpful. The people I played with were s lot of fun. The lunch was outstanding . The course was in good shape and the greens were good. Will go back again!
OK course
Nothing special. Greens were average. Tees and fairways were poor, possibly due to season. Very flat front nine.
Great find
I really enjoyed the round. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. There isn’t a driving range but the hitting area to warm up is good. The greens are certainly the highlight and made the round that much more enjoyable. The layout is great as well. The fairways had some bare spots and that’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars . Will definitely be back
Old Florida
While some opine that this course has seen better days (built in 1921) I think that the best is yet to come. The course is populated by mature oak trees and is pleasing to the eye. Not a lot of water hazards but well placed bunkers, fast greens, and shaggy rough will test your skills. The food in the clubhouse is good pub food and the staff is friendly. On the down side, some of the bunkers do not have enough sand, yes me and my group found the sand on occasion, and there is no starter. You may find yourself behind a 5-some of members that may or may not let you play through. My experience on two of times it happened to me was that they played ready golf and my group was able to complete our round in a reasonable amount of time.
Florida vacation
The entire staff at Temple Terrace country club were very acvomdating and pleasant from the pro shop to Jason the attendant that greeted you after the round, and offered his suggestions of other courses to play in the St. Petersburg area which was in fact my final destination. Greens were especially good, fairways still in less than ideal condition but overall an enjoyable round of golf.
Kids on the course playing football
Ranger doing nothing to speed up play or stop the kids from playing football on the Golf course. And begging players for money!!!
Terrible Staff, boring lay out
The round didn’t start off great considering they have no driving range. Instead they hVe a driving range net which has holes in it. There was no starter and some random old guys jumped the line and reed off. There were 4 somes, 5somes, 6somes. It was a feee for all. Then the ranger on one hole decided to try and tell us we had to hurry up when the group behind us never waited once. The cart girl didn’t have any water and we had asked her to bring it.
Also the course doesn’t sell simple things, such as golf balls and golf tees.
Oldie but Goodie
Temple Terrace is a course that I have wanted to play for many years. It was designed in 1921 and is the only course in Florida to be on the National Historic register. Pretty cool stuff! The course is situated right in the heart of a Temple Terrace neighborhood. So much so that there are streets bordering almost every hole, and it has many large old oak trees on most holes. I found the course to be fun to play with its somewhat limited yardage and small greens. The greens were in very good shape generally. However the tees and Fairways could use some improvement. That's not to say that it was a deal-breaker for me. While there was no beverage cart on the course we found the lounge area very nice for lunch afterward. Overall I thought it was a fun course at a very reasonable price and I would definitely play it again. The only suggestion I would have is for additional directional signage for those that have never played. There were times when we were confused as to which way to go for the next Tee Box.
