Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Beautiful surroundings and well maintained
Feels more old and real than most golf courses in Florida. The whole area has a bit of a European feel to it. Good value.
Play it
The course is in the middle of a busy neighborhood with roads and cars passing by all the time. Fairways are tight. Greens are quick and in excellent shape. Glad I finally got to play this historic course.
Enjoyed It
Love this course. Traditional layout. Greens were terrific.
Overall excellent!!!
First time playing this course. Booked on Golf Now. Showed up , checked in with no hassle. Fairways and Greens were in excellent shape!! Greens rolled perfectly!! I am a 10-15 handicapper. First time playing this course and shot an 83. I will be back
Great day
Had a great day....played with newly met friends....staff very friendly and helpful.....members seems polite and friendly...course in great shape compared to local courses....greens lightning fast but smooth and true.....absolutely will play again next time in area
Temple terrace
This course is pretty long for most seniors. There is only 100 yds.difference between red tees and senior tees. It has to be very long for most women
golfer friendly
very niece fairways, and great greens over all fun day.
First Time
I got confused as to where the next tee was sometimes as this is a course that has over time had parts of the City grow into it.
The course was forgiving of mistakes which matters to a poor golfer such as myself. I shot my best round of the year here (unfortunately I don't get out as much).
Would definitely come back again with the right deal, the everyday price is a bit high. The club house is beautiful and I want to see more of the place.
Beautiful trees and fast greens
Celebrated Easter Sunday with 18 holes, great pace on front, back nine was ok. Course was in good shape. Playing as a twosome many courteous golfers let us play through with no hassles. Greens were very fast , nice relaxing traditional design. Look forward to playing again.
Not your typical Florida course
This is one of Florida's oldest courses. The layout is basically medium to narrow fairways with giant oak trees lining both sides of the fairways. If you keep the ball in the fairway, a good score is easily attainable. Put it in the oaks and it will cost you strokes. The course was in excellent condition. The fairways were green and had some give to them. The greens were well maintained and the ball rolled true. Very few fairway bunkers and water only on two holes and even on those holes it only comes into play with a poor shot. My biggest criticism is that all the holes look alike. The only difference is the length and a few are doglegs. I would have preferred a little more variety.
lots of trees
Nice layout with very nice greens.
Lots of trees. The bad part is the "Bunkers" would be much better with real sand instead of dirt.
My new favorite place
Evidently this course only recently began allowing non-members to play. This may be my new favorite course in Tampa. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were fabulous. Lounge area, including outdoor patio set-up, superb. The only knock on this place that I could see is there is no practice range.
Outstanding! played in the afternoon. 3.5 hrs. for the round; no waiting and no one pushing us. Excellent value. Will definitely play again.
Outstanding! played in the afternoon. 3.5 hrs. for the round; no waiting and no one pushing us. Excellent value. The greens were fantastic and the fairway had grass but was hard. All tees were excellent. Will definitely play again.
Greens were in excellent condition!
The greens were the best that I played on this winter. They were in excellent shape. Fairways were good and rough was spotty. Over all the course was in good condition and i would recommend to any one!
Great Course
Love the layout and all the mature trees. In great shape, best greens we've played in quite a while. 4 hour round. All in all, a great day although I could have golfed better!
Average course - Great Greens - poor attention to details
As most of the reviews state - you'll not find any better greens on a non-resort golf course than you find here.
The fairways are plenty wide to hit, but good luck trying to find your ball should you venture off the fairway much. There are so many leaves and uncut weeds just a few feet off the fairway throughout the whole course - you'll spend more time than you should have to trying to locate your ball.
Poor attention to detail gripe #1:
There is not a drop of drinking water on the course - This has been brought up to the staff several times the past few years. There is water available at the clubhouse and vending machines on the course (at least one per nine holes) but $3 for a sugary drink ... c'mon staff - spend a few bucks to put a couple of water jugs out there on each side !
Poor attention to detail gripe #2:
Who's bright idea is it to allow people to use the 10th fairway as a practice range during open play on a Sunday afternoon? I hit a fairly nice drive, clearing the crest of the fairway and staying right in the middle (to avoid all the afore mentioned leaves and tall weeds off the fairway) ... I drive up to find 75+ golf balls scattered throughout the middle of the fairway as a couple was using the down slope side of the hole as a driving range. If this was my first time on the course - I'd think - oh a couple of rude golfers. However - as this is my 5th or 6th time out here in the past few years - this appears to be a standard practice - to use the 10th fairway as a range. A half dozen to a dozen balls - OK - I can live with that. BUT 75+ golf balls ... it took me several minutes to sort through them all to find mine and of course the couple just kept hitting them out on the fairway as our group played through.
Great greens you have ... but poor attention to other course details and your course is only a half a step away from being a "basic public" course !
