Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Course was in great shape
Greens were perfect! Slower round then I like due to a slow foursome. But all n all a good day
Temple Terrace Golf Course
This is a very good course for the Tampa area, and the value for the price ($35 w/cart) is worth 5 stars. Bring your putting A game.
Just Average - Dead leaves everywhere.
March 17 2017, Trees with fully grown new leaves yet there are dead leaves everywhere. Hard to find your ball even if you hit a good shot. The course itself isn't very nice. The municipal courses where I'm from (Ontario Canada) are much nice and better maintained which is saying a lot. Not worth the 1 hour drive from where we were staying. There are much better courses, save time and money.
Best greens in the Tampa area
Great track. The greens are in great condition. Pace of play was hampered by a 5 some and a single in front of us. The 5 some teed off from #1 in full view of the clubhouse. ?? The fairways are very tight with not much grass and hard dirt. Good value for the money.
Greens way Too hard
Pace of play was terrible. A foursome of members would not let a single golfer play through. Another Single golfer caught up to them and finally myself and my partner caught up. The members refused to let anyone play through and multple members would hit multiple balls from the tee box and the fairway. The course should do something about members like this. The greens had dried out so badly by noon you could not stop a ball by any hole on a slope. The ball would roll all the way to the fringe before stopping.
Beautiful, historic course
A pleasant tree-lined course with picturesque, moss hanging from the trees and even a sleeping alligator
laying beside a parrallel water hazzard. Greens in great shape and good grass on all the fairways.
Great day friendly staff
Great course and staff. Played in 3hr 40min. Greens were some of the best I've played in Tampa. Over all course was in great shape. Will definitely go back!
Members Won't Let You Play Through
I've played this course probably 40+ times. I write this in hopes that someone else says something and maybe the staff sees this...This is a beautiful course, well maintained, and at this course you have a majority of the people that are playing who are members. The members can't stand when outside people come play this course because it used to be private and now it's semi-private (probably because they need more revenue).
I've had plenty of times playing as 2-some or solo where I've come up to the tee and members have turned around, looked at me, saw we were less in numbers than they, and then not even offer to let us play through. Then they cop an attitude when you play right behind them. It's literally a lot of 70+ years old guys who fancy themselves good golfers but really aren't.
I wish the staff or board would do something about it because it'd be a shame if nobody else went to this course and the members just had it all to themselves again.
Fabulous, classic track. Best greens in Tampa Bay area. $35 w/cart....a bargain
Nice simple layout. Beautiful huge live oaks with moss everywhere. Generally open, but a few holes get tight. Some short holes, but those are tricky.
Everything about the place is relaxing and fun. Definitely play it, you will want to come back
we really enjoyed this course, and would definitely play here again.
Greens make the course!
First time playing here. Some would say, this classicly designed course is boring, but like a Donald Ross designs, this Tom Bendelow design plays longer than the yardage. Subtle doglegs make the mid-length par 4's play longer, because you must play to the wide side. Don't short side them or it's auto bogey. Par 5's are at a length that offers risk reward for going for them in two. The par 3's are all mid irons or longer, with fall offs on all sides, so hit the middle of the greens. Back 9 is a shot or two tougher, along with moderate elevation changes. Greens are outstanding, and while they look flat, again subtle breaks make holing the putts challenging. Speed is sneaky quick (10-11 on stomp) Only negatives were the fairways are thin of grass, but not so hard you bounce into the ball, and the greens keeper is a little sick with a couple of pins on the false fronts of the greens, and you can putts right off the green on even short putts. Bunkers were consistent, and as good as any course I've played. Hardly anyone there, so played in less than 3 hours, teeing off at 2:25pm. This is the type of course we need more of, very playable, still challenging, and not tricked up. Go play here, it's a great value, and worth every dime!
Great Course!!
Great Course! Highly recommended. I have played on several courses around Tampa Bay, and this one is by far the best.
Great old time country club course
What a great experience. Booked through Golf Now and were welcomed by friendly pro shop staff. We're allowed to tee off immediately even though we were early for our tee time. Fairways were in good shape for February and the greens were great. Ball rolled fast and true. Had use of all amenities including locker room. Only golf course in Florida to be listed on National Historic Registry. Traditional old time country club course with tree lined fairways. Great experience!
Wide open fairways and almost no water hazards
Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and no amateurs playing from the back tees as often happens on the public courses. Very easy to score a low round to boost your golf ego!
Nice as I remember
Rolled into town on short notice. Caught the course for a great price, on a windy, rainy day. Teed off as a 2 some at 3:30.
Finished before 6:30. Nobody on the course. Greens were outstanding.
Had dinner in the clubhouse.
Overall great day.
perfect greens
Beautiful course, greens smooth and fast. Perfect day :)
