Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Greens make the course!
First time playing here. Some would say, this classicly designed course is boring, but like a Donald Ross designs, this Tom Bendelow design plays longer than the yardage. Subtle doglegs make the mid-length par 4's play longer, because you must play to the wide side. Don't short side them or it's auto bogey. Par 5's are at a length that offers risk reward for going for them in two. The par 3's are all mid irons or longer, with fall offs on all sides, so hit the middle of the greens. Back 9 is a shot or two tougher, along with moderate elevation changes. Greens are outstanding, and while they look flat, again subtle breaks make holing the putts challenging. Speed is sneaky quick (10-11 on stomp) Only negatives were the fairways are thin of grass, but not so hard you bounce into the ball, and the greens keeper is a little sick with a couple of pins on the false fronts of the greens, and you can putts right off the green on even short putts. Bunkers were consistent, and as good as any course I've played. Hardly anyone there, so played in less than 3 hours, teeing off at 2:25pm. This is the type of course we need more of, very playable, still challenging, and not tricked up. Go play here, it's a great value, and worth every dime!
Great Course!!
Great Course! Highly recommended. I have played on several courses around Tampa Bay, and this one is by far the best.
Great old time country club course
What a great experience. Booked through Golf Now and were welcomed by friendly pro shop staff. We're allowed to tee off immediately even though we were early for our tee time. Fairways were in good shape for February and the greens were great. Ball rolled fast and true. Had use of all amenities including locker room. Only golf course in Florida to be listed on National Historic Registry. Traditional old time country club course with tree lined fairways. Great experience!
Wide open fairways and almost no water hazards
Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and no amateurs playing from the back tees as often happens on the public courses. Very easy to score a low round to boost your golf ego!
Nice as I remember
Rolled into town on short notice. Caught the course for a great price, on a windy, rainy day. Teed off as a 2 some at 3:30.
Finished before 6:30. Nobody on the course. Greens were outstanding.
Had dinner in the clubhouse.
Overall great day.
perfect greens
Beautiful course, greens smooth and fast. Perfect day :)
GREAT GREENS
Have played here a number of times over past 5 years and always have enjoyed the course and the staff. Wish it was closer to home as would seriously consider a Winter membership. Greens were re-done in summer of 2015(?) and currently best that I've seen. Keep up the good work!
Course has immaculate greens, and very nice layout. Only complaint, fairways at times could use a bit more fertilizing, and the leaves could be blown off more, at times it was hard to find the ball. I would play it again though. I rate it about a 31/2, could be a 4 with a little work.
Good value
Our 4some of strangers played in 3:45, without rushing. Could have actually played faster, but we always had sight of the group in front. Nice layout, fairways in good shape, greens in great shape & quicker than they look.
Nice course, not very interesting, but in good shape
not a very long course so we played from the tips. not much water or woods to worry about, mostly wide open. was good for what it is. the greens and fairways were in great shape. Would play here again
Great condition
Enjoyable experience. Greens in great shape. Putts rolled true and quick. Generous fairways with bunker placement making accuracy a must. Will definitely return for a rematch with the challenge. I absolutely recommend as a must play in Tampa.
Nice course, sand traps need more sand, no water in ball washers. Overall a good experience.
First timer
Course seemed to be in good condition, greens were nice and smooth. Not too many hazards, but if your off the fairway you'll have to punch it out from under some trees. Most useful club was a 3 iron. Staff was very friendly and made for a good round of golf.
Community Course
The course is intrenched in the Temple Terrace neighborhoods. The cars drive right along the course and some holes can be very narrow. Keep the drives straight and long and there shouldn't be any problems.
Good course
Love it, no practice range, but good course, great greens.
Temple Terrace
Great layout, Rolling hills, Awesome greens. Hard to read grain of greens but not a flaw to be found
