Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Playing Among The Old Oaks of Temple Terrace
Always a treat to play the Temple Terrace Country Club course... The course demands the discipline with your driver to keep the ball in the fairway. Not overly long but challenging, the fairways are nice and invite good ball striking. Arriving in regulation to the greens is where your putting game is in for a workout. The greens are always well prepared and quick, by comparison to Tampa Bays everyday public courses. The grain favors the winding Hillsborough River and reading a putt can leave you baffled at times. If you really enjoy monitoring your game keep score on your putting and if you dip under 30 putt strokes you are an exceptional amateur golfer... If you have never yet played Temple Terrace you are in for a treat... and speaking of treat... Treat yourself to a meal in the clubhouse... The staff is friendly and the lunch is a cut above!
Temple Terrace
Beautiful day for golf and was not disappointed. Easy check in course not very crowded. Paired up with two other good players and off we went. Nice course design good mix of straight holes and doglegs. Greens in great condition and putted quick and true. Bunkers and tees in good shape. Fairways very tight lies not bare anywhere just cut low making approach shots difficult. Chipping areas around greens good. Good group of par threes. Will play again.
Well maintained nice golf experience
I was a little hesitant because of the age of the course. They have new greens (tiff eagle) that are fast and true. Nice if not easy layout with some interesting features. We had some difficulty finding the next hole on some occasions (lack of signage) but it was a good day and nice round of golf.
Temple Terrace Experience
Good golf course with nice tree line lay out. As far as staff goes, that's another topic. I can see why their membership is down, pro in shop completely unprofessional. Thought everybody has bad day but rumors out this is the norm for him. Experience makes me think twice about playing here again, guy was the worst!
Old style Florida course w/ modernized greens
Was teamed w/ 3 really nice persons from West Chase (Joe, Dominick, & his wife Barbara). Tree lined municipal type course. Similar to Dubsdread GC, Kissimmee GC,& Sun n Lake Turtle Run Course. Minimal water hazards. Not a boring course. Has good amount of doglegs. Tee boxes in good shape. Wide landing areas from tee boxes. Fairways plush. Roughs a little high, making it difficult to spot errant shots quickly. Greens recently renovated & they are rolling fast & true. Has a nice large putting & chipping green. No driving range. Does have a couple of mats to hit into a large practice net. Pro shop fairly well stocked. was able to purchase souvenir cap. Fun course. Worth the 1 hour trip. Will definitely play again. Oh, you must wear proper attire & tuck your shirt in.
Greens well worth the challenge
Lived by for years and took advantage of the "Member for a Day" offering. In addition to the perfect weather, we also found this golf course to be extraordinary. I found the clubhouse clean, well kept, having a comfortable feeling of welcomeness and a sense of longstanding tradition. In addition was a golf course in great condition. The newly enhanced greens are large, very well kept, and true. - very true. Very slight undulation in general, but you can expect your ball to run past the hole 15' or more if you don't carefully read the subtle elevations due to the gradual and even appearance of each green. Fairways are reasonably wide and shadows of trees on each side of the fairways are kept clean and playable just in case one of your balls go astray. Occasional swooping hills and valley's add to this course's enjoyable experience. Only drawback is my daughter didn't pick up my tab. Oh well.
Excellent Greens
First time playing this course and I enjoyed it. Greens are in perfect condition. Can't beat the deal through Golf Now. Will definitely return.
The GUY in the PRO SHOP...
The Non-Gentlemen at the Pro-Shop acted as if he didn't want us to be there because I guess we weren't light enough and we weren't members... Your suppose to treat guest as if they are members so they may want to join! He told us we we only allowed to play once a month thur golf-now and we didn't ask him for that information. He stopped us at the tee box to make us pair up with someone after he gave us 3 keys, met us in the bar after 9 holes, drove on the course at #12 to tell a 78 year old man in our group that he's to close to the greens after he told him he needed a flag because of his handicap... I'm sorry there on Golf-Now because I've been using your wonderful service for a number of years and you guys have been great but this NON-GENTLEMEN has placed a bad taste in my mouth and I know nothing will be said about this but I wanted you guys to know that's how they treat non-memebers or was it just a simple race issue since we were 3 African American Guys paying $15 dollars a piece to play a private country club!
Great Layout.....But Temp greens.
The layout is an old school layout with many doglegs and tree lined holes. It was a fun golf course even with temp greens. Cant wait to get back and play after greens are fixed in August.
Nice Course
Wish had previous knowledge of 18 temporary greens. Must say they were better than some normal greens I have putted on. The course was in excellent shape and challenging. Would play again.
Don't waste your time
No range
Staff very stuffy and unfriendly
Food is over priced
Course is one of the least pictureurx in Florida
Go somewhere else!!
Disappointed
Until the course's major construction is done they should limited play to those who want to play and know the course's condition. Otherwise, they are disappointing others by foolery. When the course is done, then it WILL be nice to play on.
Greens
All the greens are closed, but the temporary greens worked fine. We used the 2 putt rule. If you were on the green the most you would score was a 2 putt. I was lucky and chipped it in on 10 for a eagle. No putting required.
no greens
When I purchased this time and when I checked in no one said anything about the greens being completely torn up...they just cut a very small patch of the fairway in front of the green short...cut a hole in it and called it a green...also piles of fertilizer lined every fairway...when the course is put back together it may be a nice course but for right now I would not recommend it to anyoneI may have had a better experience if I was notified prior to purchasing or at least before I started my round of the conditions but I was not in there for quite disappointedalso we nearly had to push the golf cart back to the club house because it ran out of battery life
Beware! Wait for the New Greens.
I booked a tee time but didn't notice that the course was using temporary greens. Shocked when I found every green gone. Each hole was 30 to 40 yards shorter and had a closely mown area with a cup and flag. Yardages were tough though most shots into these holes were with wedges. I didn't bother putting! Pro told me they expect the new greens to be ready in August. I suggest you wait until then.
Great Mothers Day
Excellent time this course. Temporary greens aside. I would play there again and again . Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Thank you for the great golf day.
Want my money back!
Rude front staff and members, no starter on a Sunday morning. Members playing skins game off tee hitting 2 tee shots each again on a Sunday morning. Course in pretty bad shape A lot of dirt no grass off fairway. Sand traps need sand. Course about to get greens redone and they do need it! Beautiful layout. If they only had a decent greens keeper and someone taking charge up front. Had a member practicing off the side of 10th fairway. When I got over rise there was 50 balls in fairway. Never found mine amongst members balls.
Play it again, awesome deal
We played TT for first time; they paired up my wife and me with two singles who were good guys to play with. The course is in excellent condition and is a lot of fun. Very nice driving holes. Greens were in good shape and very very fast. Fairways are excellent. We considered this round a terrific deal and will go back as often as we can.
Old School Course
Very interesting course to play - meanders through old community, street traffic driving by, joggers, walkers - has a park-like setting. Don't worry, there are plenty of old, towering oak trees to keep stray shots from going off the course. Nearly 100-yr old course - interesting course architecture - the way golf was played years ago. Lots of greenside bunkers. Greens were in very good shape. Some fairways were worn down to sand in some places - but otherwise an interesting, challenging course unlike many of today's FLA courses.
Great old style Florida Golf
The course is your good old style Florida golf course. The tee boxes and fairway were in average condition, which is normal for this time of year. The greens looks a little rough, but rolled true and were very quick.
We paired up with a member on the back 9 and enjoyed the course more with this commentary and history of the course while we played.
There is no driving range, just some matt's w/a cage, so don't come expecting a good warm up.
Well worth giving a try, but I understand that after the member guest next week, they are tearing up the greens to replace them, so you may want to hold off on the round until the fall, depending on how fast they get them done.
