Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Historic course, fun play
Excellent play. Course was in great shape and weather was fantastic! Greens were fast and fairways narrow, but playable; my errors. Looks like a links course, but plays like an old line home course. Good feeling.
I will play again when in the area.
Not able to play the course
Sorry, but my hired car broke down and I did not make the course. I am gutted. Take no notice of the above., I had to put something in to submit my report
A Welcoming Old Friend
We were alone on the course on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The classic beauty of the course take you back a hundred years. Very playable with hospitable members. A delightful afternoon.
Save your $$
Save your money !! This course id in very poor condition. No grass in the fairways. Greens are hard as a pool table. –
9 HC I Work at a Private course
nice day
Course was in good shape and the greens were excellent. Fairways were thin in some places but this still February so I expect them to fill in in the near future
Greens are amazing...
Greens are in really great condition! It is a challenging course that demands planning versus muscle. Fairways a bit tight but overall a great course. For $40 at a semi-private club, it is a great deal too. Never experience any challenge in pace of play either.
slow play, five hours plus
We were there an hour early. No range, so we waited until our time. When we went to the tee, four groups of members were allowed to go in front of us. Three hours and twenty minutes later, we left the 11th green and called the pro shop. Nothing they could do. I didn't think a 1:00 PM tee time would have to worry about finishing before dark. Two players with us dropped out, or we would not have finished before dark. Bunkers need attention, but greens were nice. Make sure you pack a lunch and have drinks with you. No beverage cart on the course.
New Greens
Having played this course numerous times in the past and not being a real fan of it I was pleasantly surprised by the changes that have been made over the past 18-24 months. The bunkers were in better condition and the greens are in great shape. The fairways though continue to be a bit thin(I know, it's winter), but it still doesn't get 100% better in June. All in all a good value at $35 at 1:00 PM in February.
Awesome greens
This was the 2nd time to play TT. The new greens were awesome . . Fast. We will play again. Staff of real friendly when they know you're not a member.
greens are well maintained
Course layout was nice pace was good traffic on both sides of the course was a little bothersome other than that good course make sure your cart has a rake none on the course
Temple Terrace Hot Deal
Nice course in good shape - old and established with open layout and mature trees. I played at a hot deal rate of $17, which was a phenomenal deal.
Great old memories
I used to play this course as a kid in tournaments and HS golf matches. It was neat to play there again 25 years later. They have redone the greens from what I was told and they rolled very nicely, still pretty hard though. When GN has great deals it is a must play, can't wait to get back out there again!!
Great Day on this historic Tampa tradition
First time playing this course, greens where recently replaced and what an amazing course. Ball placement on the greens were critical and in perfect shape. Course design (EST 1922) is challenging and beautifully laid out with mature live oaks everywhere, beautiful homes and just a pleasant course to play. I can not wait to play this gem again.
Playing Among The Old Oaks of Temple Terrace
Always a treat to play the Temple Terrace Country Club course... The course demands the discipline with your driver to keep the ball in the fairway. Not overly long but challenging, the fairways are nice and invite good ball striking. Arriving in regulation to the greens is where your putting game is in for a workout. The greens are always well prepared and quick, by comparison to Tampa Bays everyday public courses. The grain favors the winding Hillsborough River and reading a putt can leave you baffled at times. If you really enjoy monitoring your game keep score on your putting and if you dip under 30 putt strokes you are an exceptional amateur golfer... If you have never yet played Temple Terrace you are in for a treat... and speaking of treat... Treat yourself to a meal in the clubhouse... The staff is friendly and the lunch is a cut above!
Temple Terrace
Beautiful day for golf and was not disappointed. Easy check in course not very crowded. Paired up with two other good players and off we went. Nice course design good mix of straight holes and doglegs. Greens in great condition and putted quick and true. Bunkers and tees in good shape. Fairways very tight lies not bare anywhere just cut low making approach shots difficult. Chipping areas around greens good. Good group of par threes. Will play again.
Well maintained nice golf experience
I was a little hesitant because of the age of the course. They have new greens (tiff eagle) that are fast and true. Nice if not easy layout with some interesting features. We had some difficulty finding the next hole on some occasions (lack of signage) but it was a good day and nice round of golf.
Temple Terrace Experience
Good golf course with nice tree line lay out. As far as staff goes, that's another topic. I can see why their membership is down, pro in shop completely unprofessional. Thought everybody has bad day but rumors out this is the norm for him. Experience makes me think twice about playing here again, guy was the worst!
Old style Florida course w/ modernized greens
Was teamed w/ 3 really nice persons from West Chase (Joe, Dominick, & his wife Barbara). Tree lined municipal type course. Similar to Dubsdread GC, Kissimmee GC,& Sun n Lake Turtle Run Course. Minimal water hazards. Not a boring course. Has good amount of doglegs. Tee boxes in good shape. Wide landing areas from tee boxes. Fairways plush. Roughs a little high, making it difficult to spot errant shots quickly. Greens recently renovated & they are rolling fast & true. Has a nice large putting & chipping green. No driving range. Does have a couple of mats to hit into a large practice net. Pro shop fairly well stocked. was able to purchase souvenir cap. Fun course. Worth the 1 hour trip. Will definitely play again. Oh, you must wear proper attire & tuck your shirt in.
Greens well worth the challenge
Lived by for years and took advantage of the "Member for a Day" offering. In addition to the perfect weather, we also found this golf course to be extraordinary. I found the clubhouse clean, well kept, having a comfortable feeling of welcomeness and a sense of longstanding tradition. In addition was a golf course in great condition. The newly enhanced greens are large, very well kept, and true. - very true. Very slight undulation in general, but you can expect your ball to run past the hole 15' or more if you don't carefully read the subtle elevations due to the gradual and even appearance of each green. Fairways are reasonably wide and shadows of trees on each side of the fairways are kept clean and playable just in case one of your balls go astray. Occasional swooping hills and valley's add to this course's enjoyable experience. Only drawback is my daughter didn't pick up my tab. Oh well.
Excellent Greens
First time playing this course and I enjoyed it. Greens are in perfect condition. Can't beat the deal through Golf Now. Will definitely return.
