Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Nice place
Good experience, course in good condition, maybe a little thick on the greens, but a good deal for the price.
Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club
It is a great course. It is long and fun. We finished 18 holes in around 4 hours.
Fun Layout
Course was in good shape, and the layout was fun. Front 9 went very quick, on the back 9 ran into a number of groups who weren't on the front 9. Bottom line we unable to finish our round.
Nice course good greens well maintained
Very much enjoy this course, very straightforward, no forced carries. Course was in very good shape. Dining room & food was very good.
Great Friday afternoon
Have played here a number of times. Great....and I mean great! value. Designed by Tom Bendelow, it is another one of his great creations. Course was in good shape.
Would recommend to anyone.
Great Course Conditions Weather was a bit frigid
What great shape the course was in. The fairways were plush and the greens ran true. Only drawback was it was soooooo cold for Florida. That took a bit of enjoyment out of the round. Carts were great and souped up and pace of play could have been a bit better but will definitely be returning.
GREAT COURSE!
I played this course for the first time, at the recommendation of a golf buddy of mine. I was pleasantly surprised at the layout and overall course quality. This is a challenging course nestled in a suburban neighborhood. The greens rolled great and the fairways were lush, even in winter. The history in the clubhouse is amazing since this is one of Tampa's oldest courses. Well worth the time.
Great course
Enjoyed a good round. Thanks golf now.
First time playing a course I had seen as I grew up.
Very nice day.
A good variety
This course meanders through mature neighborhoods, offering wide fairways and plenty of mature trees throughout the course. The greens are large and offer a good challenge, albeit, I found the practice green considerably faster than most of the greens on the course.
Nice Surprise
Heard I should play it. Wasn't too excited since it seemed to be short and old. Got there and the pro could not have been friendlier in the pro shop. Wanted to make sure we had a good time. Course was in good condition. Greens were great other than the fact that they were very hard to read. I'm a good putter and really struggled with the reads. Putts never broke. Round took almost 5 hours but we weren't upset. Appeared a lot of older members were on course and all were very pleasant and conversational. Just a neat experience to be out there on a course with so much history. Would like to play again.
Not your average Florida course
I really liked this course, it's a little more open than your hit it right or left and you're in the mangroves courses. The tees were a bit shabby, needed a clipping, but the greens were in great shape and faster than most courses. If I had a little more knowledge on the layout I could've scored better, it's not terribly long. Mature trees, nice setting winding thru nice neighborhoods. By the way, I caught this one on a hot deal for $25.
While only playing 6,400 yds from the back tees, this old course (opened in 1922), still offers challenges for most golfers.
Fairways are wide and lined by huge trees. But hit a tree and it most likely kept your ball in bounds.....lot of out of bounds sometimes on both sides or a fairway. Good fairway grass.
Greens were in very good condition and moderately fast. Greens are not large and a few can be termed "very small".
Par 3's are all challenging due to length, sand traps and/or green configuration.
Last 3 holes are difficult finishing holes..long par 3, par 4 and par 5.
Fun to play a course that's 90 years old. No practice facilities except for a putting green and cage.
Excellent restaurant.
The course was a good challenge. First time on it can be a guessing game on what you need to do off the tee. Plenty of blind tee shots
The course was fun. Don't expect to go low on your first time out too many blind tee shots for that. At the same time that is what makes it a challenge. Good course very dismissive staff. To the the point of rude. No range and limited time in a net , five minutes at best. Give it a six.
Beautiful course! Try not to hit RIGHT!
great fairways, greens can be tricky but true and nice long par 4's and 5's.
great course!
this course is great in my opinion. long and wide fairways and plays great to my game. I would highly recommend Temple Terrace Country Club. I will be back..
Nice course
The course was a little hard to find. It goes through an old neighborhood with a lot of large trees. There is no driving range, but there is a net you can hit balls into. Greens were in good shape. Not a very long course, but requires well-placed tee shots on many holes to avoid over-hanging trees. Just because you are in the fairway doesn't mean you have a clear shot into the green. Local knowledge of where to aim and what club to use off the tee would have been a big advantage. I want to play it again now that I know where I should try to aim off the tee. One issue I had was that on a few holes it is not clear where the next hole is located, since it is often across a street. Maybe some signs or arrows painted on the sidewalk would help. Overall it was a good round and good value. I will be back.
The course was player friendly and in above average conditions. The attitude of the pro shop was less than professional.
My partner & I arrived slightly before noon for a 1:00 pm tee time. In the pro shop I handed the attendant my reservation. After reviewing it, he specifically commented not to tee off before our 1:00 pm tee time. At the time I thought the comment thou fair was a little strange.
Between noon & 12:30pm, two players teed off (the course was not busy). At about 12:30 pm my partner went to the pro shop and asked if we could tee of early as no one was waiting to play.
The pro shop attendant commented "you booked through Golf Now for a 1:00 pm tee time and you only paid $16.00."
I believe the comments were uncalled for. Our opinion is that TT only wants the money and not the riff raff. And our GN fee was more than $16 but is irrelevant..
My partner has played TT approxamely 25 times in the past 5 years and knows several TT members and the club pro. She was embarassed by the attitude of the staff and the fact that she recommended we play at TT..
Great condition
We played here for the first time and truly enjoyed it. Some difficulties figuring out where to go for the next hole but otherwise it was great.
Fairways was very good and the greens excellent. Not a long course but it does require some shot making.
We will definitely come back
The course is a decent layout
I played this course for the first tine, thinking that it was going to be a mind blowing ordeal but was disappointed. If I paid what they were asking I would of not been pleased, at least 4 or 5 of the greens had bare spots. The rest of the course was very nice, the t-box's and fairways were in great shape, I didn't see the clubhouse. The course was wide open as there was hardly anybody there so I was able for the most part play 2 balls a hole. If your the type that does not want to play a course with a lot of houses this course is not for you, from the first hole to the last, there were houses. There are quite a few trees on the course which if you are a slicer it will stop your ball from busting someone's windows, all in all if you can get a discounted rate this course is a must play.
