Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club

About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

Temple Terrace CC - 12/31/24 Review
This was my first time playing this course and it was pretty impressive. The staff was very friendly and helpful during my visit. The course is right in front of you and was in good shape. Greens were relatively quick and ran true. Pace of play was very good, with little to no waiting on the group in front of us. Playing a course that was established more than 100 years ago was nostalgic and it made think of other historical golf architecture.
Nice simple course
The course is on the easy side. There are no water hazards. The course conditioning is pretty good.
Cold & quiet
The weather definitely had something to do with the course being empty which was an extra special bonus! We had a group in front of us, but they got out really quickly so we did not have to wait at any of the holes.
Neat Piece of History
Nice course. Greens were fast when I played. No practice driving area. Chipping green is on 9th hole so beware of errant shots. Fairways manicured well. Roughs were thick.
Great experience
Awesome course and Jeff “The Cart Guy” was very congenial and welcoming.
Mediocre course
Great staff. Mediocre course at best.
But with decent greens.
2 domestic for $16
The grounds people are working hard at Temple Terrace golf still a lot of down trees and Work needs to be done. Overall the course is in pretty good shape after the hurricane. Very grateful I'm able to play So soon while people are still cleaning up their lives and their homes. Like my title describes the beers are really expensive. I will be back.
A True Hidden Gem
I almost didn’t write this review because I don’t want the course to get too crowded but this course deserves some love. A “hidden gem” is overused in these reviews but TTCC is a true hidden gem. The course was private a few years ago, but like so many courses they went semiprivate for financial reasons. My understanding is that the course wasn’t in good shape some time ago but their new greenskeeper is doing an outstanding job. The course is in terrific shape. The greens are fantastic and roll true. I love the layout of the course. Fits my eye so well. The course is challenging enough but very fair. And from the tips it’s not very long, about 6400 yards. The course is surrounded by a very friendly neighborhood that gives it a good vibe. The staff are friendly and helpful. And during the week it’s doesn’t get much play. I’ve played 36 holes on two different weekdays and the pace of play was sublime. Played one 18 with Jeff the cart guy on his day off. He’s a real asset to the club. Nicest guy. This course will be a regular go to for me, even though it’s an hour drive for me. Go play it!
