Newbridge Golf Club
My second time to play Newbridge Golf Club. The course itself was like a swamp underneath my feet. The course should of been closed in truth. I shot a 95. Decent for me.
First time I played Newbridge was back in August. And I made an observation regarding the dangerous gridded walkway (tunnel). This tunnel is heading towards the 13th tee box. Extremely unsafe and dangerous. A couple of planks of wood just thrown down. Very poor. 4 months on, and it looks like management couldn't care less. One day someone will get injured.
Overall a fairly average course. The 9th and 14th holes are crackers. I'm done with Newbridge now. Plenty more courses on my bucket list.
Cheers
Good luck
Newbridge Golf Course
Second time playing this course. I couldn't believe how bad the ground was below my feet. It was like a swamp. The course should of been closed. I shot a 95. Not bad for me.
My first review of this course was back in August. I made an observation walking off the 12th green, back through the carpark. Heading under a dangerous grated tunnel towards the 13th tee box. Very dangerous passageway. 4 months on and still no sign of any improvements. Literally a few planks of wood thrown down. Someone will be badly hurt one day.
I've played Newbridge Golf Course twice now. Time to move on. Nothing special. 14th hole par 3 over water is a cracker. 9th hole very nice.
I've played much better courses. Good luck
Good solid parkland course
Good solid parkland course. Great enjoyable round with some nice green locations. And course was kept in Great condition for this time of year
Good value with Hot Deal
The course was a challenging layout, but conditions were pretty wet. I suspect not very good sand base for drainage: I arrived about 45min ahead of my tee time and there were no other cars in the parking lot, no staff to support breakfast. It’s a walkable course. Definitely recommend getting breakfast ahead of a morning tee time.
Good standard
First time playing this course. Did the usual arrive 20 mins before to get myself set. Go in to pay and be told we have to go to the tee asap as "we're full today" . Normally this wouldn't bother me in the slightest but with a 4-ball waiting for us to tee off 20 mins before our slot doesn't really get the round off to a good start. Signage out on the course for next tee etc could do with being upgraded as being new to the course there is a few holes where you come off the green and have no clue where to go. Even if the scorecard had a map you would probably be able to figure it out.The course itself is well laid out and a few long holes. A few issues with lads picking up balls that didn't belong to them became very frustrating but I suppose that can happen anywhere. All in I'll definitely be back to play this course.
Really enjoyed the course....tricky and longer than I remember.....a good challenge.
Lovely Parkland Course 7/10
Positives
Nice Parkland Course. Nice forgiving fair fairways. Greens are like putting on glass. But I soon learned. Course full of trees (strateguely positioned) but fair. A lot of bunkers which I managed to avoid. I found the general public like myself (a non member) to be very nice and friendly. You can quickly tell who the members are (they stick to themselves and can be stand-off-ish). I ignored them. I'm a member myself of another course. I greet and respect everyone.
Some beautiful water holes it has be said. General clubhouse looked amazing from the inside. Toilets and locker room were very clean and tidy. The young lad working in the Pro Shop was friendly, a true gentleman.
Negatives
Too many people playing the course (management needs to look at General tee times. I played on my own. Luckily the lads (3/4 balls) let me play through (on four separate occasions).
After you've played the 12th hole (if I can remember) you then have to navigate your way through the carpark to what can only be described as a dungeon like underground tunnel. This was a grated tunnel (to stop cattle I'd imagine from crossing).... I couldn't believe it. I had golf spikes on (golf shoes) and I found this passage very dangerous and completely unsafe... a few planks thrown down accross the grided pass way... again management need to took at this.
Lastly I found the Golf Course ranger to be extremely rude. On two separate occasions I seen him....and simply said "Hello sir"... I was simply ignored. Very unprofessional.
Someone should quietly give him a crash course on manners. Oh and he could do with staying away from the food in the clubhouse.
All in all a great day and experience. I shot a 91. Not too bad considering I'm only back playing 5 months.... after a 21 year exodus.
I'll be back... the pro's outweigh the cons
Too slow to ever play again
We were 2hrs 45 to play 9 holes (with 3 par 3's) and waited to hit every shot on every hole, and it was getting slower as the game went on. Our group had paid for 18 holes but just walked in after 9 it was that bad.
We were a 2 ball and expected it to be slow on Saturday afternoon but felt the round was going to take about 6 hours if we stayed for all 18. There were a 2 matches starting several groups behind us and everybody had to let them through - not sure if this is standard practice but slowing every other group on the course for the benefit of 2 groups does not make any sense. Everyone in the matches were also playing slower than we were.
Nobody in the proshop mentioned this to us that we'd have to let the competition matches through when we checked in. Tried to find somebody after our 9 holes in the proshop to discuss but nobody was around.
Almost 6hr pace is absolutely obscene for a relatively short par 71 course with not much walking.
Course was fine with some nice holes but I would never recommend to anyone to play here due to slow play alone.
Good course challenges
Good course, we played 9 holes twice sbut still really good even though in wintry conditions.
Worth a trip out
