Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course

About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

My new favorite track
Play was aa little slow, but what the heck, I'm retired!
I just love this course. From tees to green, this course is in great condition. Highly recommended.
A$&?!hole hit me with his wedge on purpose
Slow play in front. People complained that we hit down on them. We apologized. The people behind us were taunting us non stop. By the way I was even par after 7 and having a good time with my son. The twosome behind us kept taunting and hitting their ball at us. Then they almost hit a persons wife in our foursome on hole 8. About to play nine these two larger guys came up to the wife and husband and we’re belligerent. I said where are we going. The instigated mire and the bigger guy about 6-4 put his club in my chest. I asked him yo take it back and leave us. He then hit me in the chest with his club and we were on after that.
After successfully defending myself we quit told the starter what happened and left. I have never been able to finish 18 there yet.
They offered us a free round but my 15 year old son and I declined and left my ph number. I guess I should stick with private courses. The staff were nice but the level of clientele there is very sub par.
I gave this guy 5 chances yo leave us slone and the female in our group filmed the whole thing. My son never wants to play there again with me. 2 bad experience in a row. The second one was the fight.
Afternoon Golf In Early February at Okeeheelee
This is a great place with challenging golf in a beautiful setting. The overall care of the course is outstanding and the attention to detail from the fairways to the greens and even the bunkers is first rate. The pace of play was a little slow because of a slow foursome in front of us. I was surprised that a course ranger didn't move them along.
I've previously played this course and the pace of play was more than acceptable. It only takes one group of players to hold things up.
I would highly recommend Okeeheelee Golf Course for anyone who enjoys challenging and satisfying golf. Even if it's a little cool and the wind is blowing, it's a great time.
A very wise man once told me that south Florida has the best bad weather in the country and he was and is right.
Nice Course
Course has 3 nines. Lots of dog legs. Good mix and it was in excellent condition. Very fast greens. Only issue was the starter. Not very pleasant and seemed very dis organized. Originally sent us out as a fivesome.
Walk in the park!
Love this course. There were actually two Herons greeting us on the 1st Heron tee box.
Fun and friendly
Love this course. Scored a last minute hot deal for $27 and got all 18 in. Great day on the course, be back soon!
Good value with golf now. Condition and course layout were good. Water sneaks into areas you aren't aware of if you haven't played before. Overall, enjoyed the course and would love to play again if in the area
Top quality
Best price/quality I have experienced in my 3 weeks vacation. Congrats to Palm Beach County for the good work.
Terrible Pace of Play
They somehow manage to over book this course every single time I go. They get upset if you aren’t on time for your tee time but then when you are early/on time they don’t even let you onto the course until 15 mins after it. Very frustrating course to play on just because of how full they let the course get. The past two times I’ve gone there were 3 separate groups of 4 on every hole at any given time. Made it through 7 holes in 2 1/4 hours. I won’t be returning until I see something about them fixing this issue.
Better than last year, but ……
Played Eagle and Osprey 9’s. The course is in excellent condition and pace was decent given the time of year, but some of the employees need an attitude adjustment. The driving range was crowded yet they only allowed 50% of the space to be used - the starter is an absolute jerk who was yelling (yes, yelling) at my playing partner for slightly angling our cart in the queue and going 3” over the line!!! One of the beverage cart women was pushy and sullen when we didn’t order anything. The other one was bubbly and friendly. Course review positive, the rest mostly negative. Not sure I’ll be back this year.
Fun course to play. Greens in good shape with the speed almost perfect:
Beautiful Course
Over-booked... slow play!
