West at Fountains Country Club

About
Fountains Country Club offers three different 18-hole championship courses, the West, North, and South. The golf courses sprawl across 865 lushly landscaped acres that are part of a gated golf community. All of the courses were designed in the 1970s by the team of Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. Water hazards come into play several times throughout the course and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The golf course has some mild undulations but the terrain is mostly flat. All of the courses are player-friendly and diverse enough to accommodate a range of skill levels but conveniently, there are also five different sets of tees. In addition to the golf courses, Fountains boasts well conditioned practice facilities including putting greens, pitching areas, bunkers, and an expansive driving range.

Great Place to Play especially for the Price
I’ve played here a few times and it continues to impress. The greens are in good shape having been punched about 5-6 weeks ago. They are not slow and roll true, had no problems putting on them. Tee boxes are ok, no amazing. Fairways are soft from all the rain but in condition. Second cut and Rough is a little rough with some patches needed.
Layout of the course is nice. Major issues is the long drive between holes so pay attention to signs to get to the next hole because it’s confusing.
No real signature holes, but an overall nice layout. 18 was the hardest and best laid out hole in my opinion.
Driving range balls included in the price makes this even better. Main range has mats and the other side with grass but limits to 250 shots max so couldn’t hit the woods. Other side also has a chipping area. Practice green was just like the real greens which is great.
Off course amenities. We saw the cart girl twice on a during the week round so that works. They have a complimentary beverage station at the cart barn with soda and Gatorade which was Great! The bathrooms were clean and offered a water station with ice machine at each one.
You get some perks of a private club, range balls and a nice course for a municipal price. I would definitely recommend it.
It's worth to played the course.
The green have sand but next 2 weeks coming great again . I love this course... Recomends for everyone.
Lady in pro shop was not friendly and forced me to pay again despite having paid via GolfNow ahead of time.
Don’t play this course!!!
I got tee times on this course through the south Florida golf pass, and it’s obscured that this course is even on it! Just got done playing as I’m typing this! I never write reviews about any course so obviously this has to be that bad for me to waste my time writing this! We didn’t get a cart girl till the 10th tee! Only takes cash.. you have to drive almost 1 mile in total to get to half the holes! Punched greens (which isn’t an issue for me) cart guys were great! Horrible layout! For being a “country club” this may be one of the worst courses I have ever played in my life. If you are a decent golfer please don’t waste your time here. I wanted to try something new but should have just played okeeheelee..
Punched greens
Nice layout.. greens are weeks out from being true.. played as 2.. no waiting at all.. with 11am tee time.. range balls included.. great value for the price
Great Experience
Booked my round hours before my 3p tee time. Had played last year and course was in much better shape this year. Clubhouse closes at 3, so stock up on beverages prior to teeing off. Got a great rate. Greens were perfect. Play was a little slow as there are no rangers and beginners in front of me, who showed no etiquette. I’ll be back soon.
Whole course well taken care of
Greens rolled true and fast
Most of all fairways green and plush
Few sand spots on tee boxes
Staff very friendly
Bathrooms clean and well stocked
Ice and water stations well placed
Sanded Greens, Rough Tee Boxes, Spread out holes, very Pleasant
The Greens were rolling about 8-9 and unevenly sanded. However general course conditions were fine. Very few people out in heat.
Thank goodness for good signage as the holes were quite spaced from greens to tees on the West Course.
