Unless nostalgia strikes, save your money
Unless nostalgia forces you to play here before it closes on Monday, save your money and go elsewhere. They've packed it in here.
My thoughts
I can see it was very well appointed when private. But I'm thinking maintenance has relaxed w new owners and that's understandable. Some traps were removed to loosen up some toughness maybe to speed up play? But that wasn't an issue as we played in just under 3 hrs. I would play it again as it was a good value. Greens held there lines and were consistent. Chips checked up well too. KA, St Charles, Il.
going out of business
This course is closing up shop in April and looked it!
Will be closed – what a shame!
This was one of mine favorites in Orlando – and they gonna close it for housing!!!! Incredible!!! And as it is known that it will close on April 4th, they just let it go… The conditions are horrible. I am really sad about this decision. This will be the second great course (after Grande Pines – Marriott) that will close because someone will make more money – jus bad. No further comment.
Interesting course with good value
A very interesting layout with decent conditions - the rye grass in fairways and tee areas isn't going to come in very well, but greens were fine and rough okay. There were several challenging holes and we found the course to be a solid value. We would return again.
Too bad
Windemere Golf club is in a beautiful setting in a very nice section of suburban Orlando surrounded by very nice homes but it is closing in April to be transformed into a housing development. It is a very nice course in terrible condition. Only the greens are being watered. The range is horrible. The pro shop is virtually empty of merchandise. The grill is a joke. However we enjoyed the course and can only imagine what it would be like with some TLC.
Parched greens roll like pavement painted green
Last day of golf trip and we wanted to find a cheaper venue. We paid about $50 through golfnow. The bag drop person was less than friendly and when we brought the cart back because it didn't act like it was charged before teeing off he treated us like we were an annoyance. The course is a wreck. Almost all yellow and brown and very little healthy grass. The greens were a joke... parched and therefore lighting quick. Holding a green was near impossible even when you land short and let it run to the flag. Some even had green sand on them. The fellas that greet you after the green seemed pleasant but just like your waitress does when its time to collect. You can save money but don't try at this place. Green fees with course as is should be in the $25-30 dollar range and then I'm not sure its worth it.
Too Bad
Course is closing 4/18/2016, building condos! Nice layout, but only tees and greens are being kept up for play. Played off hardpan all day.
Now or never
Great track! Most unfortunate it is scheduled to close in the near future for property development. Get a last round in if you can. Greens are faster than most.
Fairways Still Not in Good Shape
Disappointing that fairways are still dry and have not been irrigated. Some greens have winter kill.
Off the bucket list
Always enjoyed playing Windermere in previous visits but I now understand it is closing April 18 for development. Very obvious as Mr. DeCunha is not putting any money into the place. Took 5 hours to play and we are not slow players. Waited on every shot.
Too bad as his Dragon's Fire course in southern Ontario is quite nice and well maintained.
Tobadsosad
Nice course ,to bad it''s closeing.
What a Shame it's Closing
I played here 2 years ago and really enjoyed it so when I had a chance this visit to FL I booked a time. The rate was excellent and the weather was gorgeous. I was paired with 3 local fellas and we teed off 10 minutes earlier than our tee time. The course was booked solid but pace of play was good and we finished in 4 hours 15 minutes. The course was not over seeded but the greens were in great shape, fast and firm with lots of subtle undulations. Fairways are dormant Bermuda but easy to hit off of. The last 4 holes are a treat to play and will make or break your round. It's a shame that the owner is closing it in mid April to build houses. A real loss for us golfers.
Save your money
It seems with the coarse closing in two months no one working cared about you. From the check in to ranger to pro shop. Took us over 5 hours to play.
Coarse layout was great, virtually no maintenance carts terrible. If you can get on for $20.00 or so it may be worth your money.
Pick another coarse to spend five hours.

Good course in bad shape
This is a decently laid out course but due to its pending closure has been let go
This used to be a great course
We've played this course in recent years and really enjoyed it. Great track and lots of great holes. Unfortunately it is closing permanently in April and it looks like they've stopped maintaining it.
Course is closing
Since the course is closing in April, the course was not in very good shape. Clearly there was not any watering of the fairways.
So Sorry
Sorry to hear they will be closing the course in April. It was fun while it lasted
Nice course
Nice course the only downside was hearing that the course is closing permanently in April
