Links of Lake Bernadette
About
The Links of Lake Bernadette enjoys verdant landscaping and a rolling terrain that are perfectly complemented by mature and towering pines. At 6,400 yards, the golf course is seemingly short but it feels like it plays much longer due to frequent doglegs that can be found throughout. Six of the par 4s play over 400 yards and a few par 3s measure over 200 yards, which also helps the course feel longer. Water hazards and bunkers come into play but they are balanced by large greens and wide fairways that make for easier approaches. Although beginners won't feel out of place and there are four different sets of tees, the golf course boasts several tricky holes that will challenge even the best players. One of these, the 163-yard 13th, was once called the best par 3 in Tampa Bay.

Just keeps getting worse
I’ve played this track probably 5 times over the past 2 years and each time conditions have declined. Never have I been punished so much for hitting fairways and near impossible to make putts with how long and bumpy the grass is. Honestly about as long if not longer than the fairways. (For reference, I played the next day at Southport springs 10 mins down the road and for a shorter course meant for older folks, conditions were near perfect. I value a well kept course rather than scenery etc.). No water on the course which is rough in Florida, let alone the summer so plan ahead for that if you choose to play. Hotdogs at the ready in the clubhouse but comparable to a pencil. Not worth the $5, get the burger or something. Sadly the only positive I can honestly give is the staff is very friendly and pace of play was pretty good for a Saturday.
Greens always seem "furry". Maybe could be mowed more often... but I'm not an expert at greenskeeping.
Are the mowers out of action here?
Pros: The staff here is very nice, and the course layout can be kind of interesting. The green fee was fairly low (as it should be).
Cons: The greens were grown out to fairway grass length. It was like playing on shag carpet. I don't think I have ever played greens this slow. Maybe a 5 or 6? Some of the bunkers we basically unplayable, so take free relief using your best judgement.
Advice: It's an OK place to at least get in some ball striking. Don't expect to make any putts, so don't come expecting to shoot a score. I booked it because the fee was reasonable and I was able to get the time I needed on a Saturday morning.
If you are a player that can find a way to have some fun playing a "not so good" track, by all means give it a try.
If you are used to playing courses that are in good shape and well maintained, and you are not happy playing on an "iffy" track, you should probably book somewhere else. Otherwise you'll be "that guy" who complains for the entire round about the golf course.
Very Good Value and all-in-all a Good experience
Course was in decent condition.
Greens do need to be mowed - very slow.
Only two complaints, 1. Not forcing back-to-back twosomes to pair up to help speed up play.
Also sprinklers were running in the middle of the fairway on hole #1 and the first Par 5 in the back nine and we had to play around them and had to rush out shots so we did not get hit by the spraying water.
Everything else was great and as always, all the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Hit 'em straight.
Enjoy this course from time to time. At first glance fairways appear wide enough edge to edge. But if you slice or hook, GOODLUCK. Edges of fairways are lined with heavy plant growth. Hit it in and forget about recovering your ball. This goes for behind greens too. And aquatic plant growth in ponds at edges mean you won't find a ball even if it rolled in easy and you know exactly where to look.
Still a nice course. Rough on inconsistent hitters.
Drainage issues.
This course is average, the price is good compared to the competition. The drainage of the course could be improved, as we had spots on the fringe that were sloppy. The greens are SUPER SLOW. You put downhill and the ball will stop mid hill. The clubhouse doesn't have much other than polo shirts. The shoe selection is lacking unless you have child sized feet. I'd play here again, because even with the issues, you can't beat the price.
Good course for the price
The course was a good course to play for the money. Greens were is good shape but the bunkers were rock solid and full of grass.
Pleasantly Surprised
After not playing her for several weeks. I was impressed with how the course looked and played. Some drainage issues on number 12 but that’s it. I played the Groves the day before and Bernadette was in better shape.
Great time. But T-time management wasn’t the best.
We were playing having a great time until a group jumped into the course on the 4th hole and they caused our group and 3 other groups to be backed up due to their VERY VERY SLOW game play. I never rush anyone but they were a group of 4 re-teeing about 4-5 times each cause 4 groups to be sitting in line stacked on top of one another.
Course was amazing once they got off the course on the 9th hole
Early Risers
Best course for early riser heat avoiding golfers. Staff very friendly and professional. Course in good condition considering the rain we’ve gotten.
