Walk the plank!
So I show up to the non morning person in the club house. I had a 630am tee time when the sun comes up at 7am. Go figure. The guy says I have to start in the dark. So I scratch my head and turn around and notice they sell lighted golf balls. I grab the last one on the rack. The balls are $12. I think it's bs that there is a hidden charge to play tee times that are scheduled before sunrise. Fool me once. Kinda off shady if you ask me. FYI to all who want to play early.
We had a great time conditions were perfect especially pace of play. Can’t wait to return
5 hr PoP
Only negative about that day was the POP, lot of traffic jams on Par 3’s & short par 4’s and the 3 groups ahead were all in carts. 10th hole could use a bell you ring once you’ve cleared the fairway landing zone cause after the crest of the hill everything is blind and carts disappear from view all the way to the green.
Shout out to the Manong’s at the starter booth for the course tips as a 1st timer, and the retirement age Korean dudes i was paired w/ who were super nice and gave me a yogurt drink & some gimbap
Good and bas
Interesting course m. Front 9 easier than back nine . Great fairway condition, greens inconsistent. Would play again BUT not at 5.5 hr pace
Rainy day, empty course, 5+ hour round
First time playing Diamomd Bar. Teed off on a rainy weekday(12 Feb 25) @ around 1p. Storm had mostly passed though leaving scattered & light showers. Pulled into the parking lot and saw 30-35 cars total in the lot.
Whatever they were cooking in the restaurant smelled good. Didn't buy any food though. Pro shop guy was friendly enough. Seemed to barely tolerate the couple questions I asked. But friendly enough.
I was a little surprised to find the course in good shape after reading some of the recent reviews. For the price though it was in good-very good shape. Layout had a variety of holes & some elevation change.
The one thing that killed the round was the ridiculous pace of play. Even on a normal day it would've been SLOW. Considering that the course was not at all crowded though pace of play was ridiculous. Over 2.5 hours to play the front 9. Waiting on every shot. Always at least a couple minutes if not more. One of the other golfers in the group called the pro shop to complain. Was told there was no Marshall on site and apparently nobody other than him working. I ended up taking off after 9 when we pulled up to 10 to find it backed up two 4somes deep. Again on a day when there were no more than 30-35 cars in the parking lot.
Not likely that I'll visit again. Like I said the course was in good shape and looked like a fun course to play. The painfully slow pace of play though and indifference to it wasn't something I'll pay for again though. Can't imagine how slow it could be on a busy or even an average day.
Fun layout
First time playing here in a few years. Had not seen the changes till today. Layout is fun, generous fairways. Greens healing well
